3rd Trimester

Did you put LO in your Christmas card somehow?

I am finally making our Christmas cards online.  It feels weird to type our 3 names and nothing about baby, especially considering she'll almost definitely be here before anyone even gets these cards. I wouldn't put her name since we're not telling ahead of time, so I guess there's not really any appropriate way to include her, right? Just thought I'd ask and see what everyone else did.

Re: Did you put LO in your Christmas card somehow?

  • Maybe you can say something like "and the little on on the way" or "baby girl" or
"baby (enter last name) #2 (or w.e # in line she is)." I think it's cute to include her in the card, she is a big part of your life even though she isnt here yet!

  • We put this.

Bill, Rhonda, and Rylee (coming soon).  Even though there is a chance she could be here before these cards get mailed out.

Im trying to get the thank you notes out first!

  • I thought about putting something about baby to be and decided to leave it off. I agree, it already feels like he's part of the family to me, but probably not to others. I have three friends/family members due the same week as me (yep!!) and I noticed the cards we've gotten from them so far have also left off baby to be.

  • I thought about telling everyone the name by putting it on the card, but we still haven't figured one out, so I just left it the three of us for one last year.

  • My plan is to send out a Happy New Years card once we get a few photos done up, and send it out to people in the new year.  No cards before Christmas from us this year!

  • We already picked her name so we would include hers on the card.
  • I would just do a New Year's card.  Otherwise leave her name off.  It seems weird to include somebody who is not born yet.
  • LO is coming before Christmas (at the latest the 18th), but I prob won't be able to get cards out in time before them (with her pic on it) since I'll be in the hospital  for a few days after that. So, we aren't doing cards this year.

I am going to send announcements in January, so I'm not too worried about it.

In your situation, can you just say, "Love, the xyz family"?

  • I only do it if the baby somehow appears on the card. A couple years ago I was obviously pregnant in our family card we sent out so I signed it "baby #2 due in March". This year we're just doing a picture of the girls so I won't add baby in. Plus we're so close there will be a birth announcement soon anyway.

  • I'm not really doing xmas cards this yr (I sent one to my mom and a close friend but thats it) and I included this baby's name on it...and the cards we have received have included LO's name as well (since we shared what the name is)

  • We knew our little one would be here before Christmas, so we added "and our soon-to-arrive baby girl" after our older kids names. I didn't want to share her name until I send out birth announcements.

  • DH is very superstitious, and was adamant that we not put LO's name on the card, which felt a bit strange, but he so rarely feels strongly about stuff that I let him win that one.  One of our photos is a maternity photo though, so that felt like a way of including him.

  • I put the name because he may or may not be here by Christmas so we included him just in case.

  • I really wanted to and my photographer (who's also a close friend) wanted us to. But we also included the dogs. So, it would've been 5 names and the pic we chose didn't showcase the belly much so we opted to just do one final one with us and the pups. Baby also won't be here until Feb 4, so...

  • We will to close family.  Baby girls nickname is "coconut cream" (our 3 year old came up with it) and since we won't be naming her until after she's born, EVERYONE close to us calls her by her nickname so we sign it either "The Hauf Family" or Josh, Melissa, Conner, Aliviah and "Coconut Cream". :)

This. I think it's odd since he's not here yet so I didn't include him. Everyone who gets Christmas cards from us will get his baby announcement so that way there won't be any confusion about if he's here or not.

  • I got one from a friend and she is due at the end of April. She wrote their names and baby #3 coming in April. I thought it was kinda strange, but to each their own.

I am due Jan 14 and won't include her name. I have already got a Christmas card from my cousin and it was addressed to DH, me and Caroline (our future DD). I was surprised to see it addressed to Caroline, but it made me smile that she did that.

  • Well if she'll be here before people receive the cards they why not do a birth announcement/christmas card combo (I saw some really cute ones when I was doing this for DD who was born on Dec. 2nd) then have it completely ready minus baby's info and pic, you can have DH add those in the hospital waiting room right after her birth.

  • I put "and Baby Lastname" on the cards going to family, friends and people I'm close with at work, but not the acquaintance-type people that we send cards to (like people at work that I just send cards to because I think it's the nice, professional thing to do but who have no or maybe only a vague idea that I am pregnant).
  • My husband and I sent out our Xmas cards we had taken a couple pics of us together then one pic holding our ultrasound picture so that you could see each of our hands then we took a pic of my belly with his hands on it! That was our way of including the baby in our holiday card. We had them made into a collage style post card it was super cute!
