Babies: 6 - 9 Months

Baby I pad case

Do you have one and do you think its worth it? I also was curious what everyones opinion is on letting baby play with it. i have never really let her play with mine but she likes to watch it. I just don't know if it is a silly buy. I try not to let her watch too much tv so I don't want her to zone out on the I pad either. Thanks

Re: Baby I pad case

  • Around 6 months, my son was facinated with the iPad (always reaching for it, etc).  We got a fisher price app and he LOVES it. Shapes bounce around the screen and then when he taps the screen more shapes appear.  He plays on it for about 5 minutes and then he's ready to move on to the next toy. It's not like he's playing on it all day so I think it's fine.

He's sitting in my lap and I hold the iPad so we haven't thought about getting a case.

  • Loading the player...
  • we have the iPod case and plan on getting the iPad case. I'm a SAHM mom so I usually have music coming out of the iPad and LO is always trying to smash the screen and loves the colors. Just manage the screen time they get and you'll be fine

  • We got the fisher price one. It works well for us because it's easy to get the ipad in and out of because I use a keyboard case for work and a smart cover when we're just around the house. It has definitely been worth it.
  • We're trying to avoid too much screen time until she's older... going to go for the rule that when she can ask to watch tv etc then she's old enough to watch it.  I'd include IPADS etc in that.  Just because these apps are marketed as educational doesn't mean that they are...They can get as much fun and more of a learning experience out of playing with the box IMO.

  • The question was not about screen time, but about case recommendations.  My opinion is that if you'd like to start a discussion about screen time, you should create a new post for that topic.

That being said, I believe it is important to expose baby to a wide variety of things- he gets some ipad time now and then, but he does have much more fun with fingerpaint, boxes, and paper bags which actually entertain him longer.

The op did in fact ask for opinions on  letting baby play with it...by it I assumed she meant the iPad.  Pp was just giving her opinion.

To the OP:  I am considering the case too.  I have a few apps my baby enjoys and I let her play for about 5-10 minutes at a time.  I also let her watch tv so I personally don't have an issue with screen time in moderation.  It really depends on how you feel.

     Read OP's question more carefully...

  • DS has plenty of toys and books. My phone and iPad are not toys.

  • With all the toys she has I don't feel that needs to play with my iphone or ipad. She loves to put things in her mouth and likes the lights on her jumperoo. She also loves her taggie mirror. She does get glimpses of tv but I don't put her down in front of it. I don't want her to get use to theses devices for entertainment.

I am not judging those who do, but my DD is content with her toys at this point.
