Trying to Get Pregnant

Period 13 days late, BFN!?

Period 13 days late, BFN!?

My last period was October, 27 2012. I'm never this late maybe 3 or 4 the most...But this is a little much! I took a test at 5, 9 & 11 days late. All negative. I used the Dollar tree brand tests, even if I was this late SHOULDN'T it show accurately? I'm really confused. I don't use protection nor birth corntrol. I'm married and the pull out method has work for almost 6 years (I have a 5 year old)! He's not came in me whatsoever! :/

Can I please get someones point of view?

Re: Period 13 days late, BFN!?

  • Are you charting?  Using OPKS?  Do you actually know when you ovulate?

Are you hoping that withdrawal is an effective birth control method? (It isn't)

  • Okay:

    1. The pull out method is not 100% effective.  See "16 & Pregnant"

    2. You may have ovulated later in your cycle than normal.  Test every few days until you get a positive or your period or you reach 60 days without either, at which point you should make an appointment with your doctor.

  • You probably just ovulated late. If you are not charting to confirm ovulation, there is no way to tell. If you ovulated late, then your period will come later than normal. Even if you always have a regular cycle, it can happen.

  • Yes I'm aware that's its not a 100% but It's worked for me! I didn't use OPKS to track it, because i'm not trying to conceive. But if I was it wouldn't matter either way. Just not trying ya know  :)

I usually ovulate around the 12th and 13th

  • I'd be a happy girl if I never saw another post like this again.

    Yes, everyone!  Oh, the humanity.

We cannot tell you if you are pregnant or not. You took a test, it told you you are not pregnant.  It is correct.  That is my point of view.

    Read the newbie link.

If you used reliable birth control, you wouldn't be taunted because there would be no doubt as to whether you were or weren't pregnant.

See I would use birth control but there are just way to many side effects. My last birth control was Mirena and that was nothing but issues with me. All I am saying is that the pull out method has worked for us, granted that I'm aware that its not 100% preventable It was a statement.

What would you like us to say? Yes, you're pregnant! Those home pregnancy tests are always wrong! Congratulations!...? Confused

We don't know if you're pregnant. The hpt was negative, so that was your answer. Like we've already said, you probably ovulated later than usual. If you go 60 days without a positive hpt or your period, call your doctor.

Apparently I'm very offended easily today, I'm sorry..I didn't mean to be a B$#@. I am sure you've been where I am at at least once in your life, to where you don't know what's going on with your body..It's very frustrating

I usually ovulate around the 12th and 13th

The pullout method works 100% of the time until it fails. I don't really care which method you use either way, but the only 100% reliable form of birth control is complete abstinence.

But you're getting BFN's, so you just O'de late if you've O'de at all. It happens.  And since you've already said you're cycles can on occasion be 5-6 days late, then you just aren't as regular a you think you are.

Test once a week until you hit 60 days, and if you're still getting BFN's call your doctor to just start your cycle.

I have noticed the same thing. I am newer to this site. I thought it was supposed to be supportive but so far the majority are not. Sorry for your frustration I am going through something similar.... 9 days late and no sign of AF and four BFNs. All you can do is wait but it is still frustrating and you still need support through the wait. Good luck!

It's not that hard to figure out. If the test says negative, then OP is not pregnant. As others have said, probably ovulated late. Keep testing until a BFP, a period, or CD60.

This exact same thing comes up multiple times a week, sometimes multiple times a day, and the answer is always the same.

You could chart for natural family planning.  You would then have a better idea when to expect your period, and it wouldn't be a mystery.  No side effects of temping and tracking CM.

My point of view, since you ask for it:

The other ladies are right -- you likely ovulated late. But, since you aren't actively charting, you wouldn't know that. So, you've opened the door to this "oh crap, my period's late/I'm pregnant/omgomgomg" behavior that is completely over-reactive and childish. This is how a teenager would respond to their period being late, not an educated adult.

In the future, if you don't want more kids, then you either need to use some sort of protection or practice complete abstinence. Since I'm sure your H wouldn't be on board with abstinence, check out the condom aisle at your local pharmacy. They have a whole world of options of non-hormonal birth control.

And finally, don't come to a forum where ladies are actively trying to get pregnant and ask questions like this. It's really just unnecessary. Read the newbie link at the top of the home page for this forum and all of your questions will be answered.

  • A couple of things:

    1) OP, you got mostly good answers and a couple of rude ones. This will always be the case.  Let the ones that bugged you roll off your back and hopefully you can benefit from the informative ones. Having a thick skin never hurts.

    2) There are plenty of people that are not TTC on the TTGP board. I don't know why this always comes up. There's a TTA check in, FFS.

    I've got nothing else.

Hehehe that is funny. This has never been said...ever.

Everyone answered your question OP, you probably ovulated later than you think so your period is going to show up later than you think OR it is too early to take a pregnancy test. Unless you are just going for regular appt and/or don't have history of losses, you can save yourself the copay at the doctor's until you have gone 60 days from your last period.

Yes, yes we have all been newbies at one time or another - as the saying goes you'll always be a newbie to someone. However, lurking around to see how many times this question is asked or simply reading the newb link at the top of the page doesn't take that much time.

Luckbeababy - thank you again for infinite wisdom into the ute's of internet strangers everywhere.
