So..I officially quit Christmas shopping as of today...if I don't already have it, I'll either have to order it online or send DH or Mom after it...I am NOT setting foot in another retail establishment (except maybe a quick trip to the grocery store) until LO is here! We made 3 quick trips today to return a few things we had received for LO that weren't really our style and to pick up the supplies to make Christmas gifts for our friends this year and by the end of it, I thought I was going to die...my feet were screaming, my back was screaming, and I thought I was dying of heat stroke (it was close to 70 degrees here today but apparently the stores didn't feel the need to turn their heaters off..or maybe it was the 1000s of people packed into an enclosed space)...
It's so odd to me that my body seems to suddenly have these limits that I am not used to...I am not used to being that wiped out after walking around for less than an hour, nor am I used to being in that much pain by just standing in a check out line...I have done well this whole pregnancy with keeping up my normal routines, but I have apparently reached my limit...no more Christmas shopping for this mommy-to-be!!! At least I got an early start this year, and am more or less done already...
Re: That's the end of that...
Online is so much simpler anyway. At this time of year I hate going out because so man y people are out and when there are a lot of stressed out people out shopping they tend to annoy me, even when I am not pregnant. Save yourself the time and stress and pain. There are so many good deals online anyway.
We aren't buying anything this year. The baby is the gift for all of our parents and I just didn't want to deal with buying gifts for anyone else and so it is much simpler this year for us. We might not get to see people for christmas anyway since our family is a couple of hours away and I might not feel like traveling.
I think we have 2 presents left to buy. Mainly have to wait until Friday (pay day) to purchase my MIL her present. (We spend a lot on her because we're the only ones who get her a Christmas gift).
Between Amazon, a shopping on and off since September, I'm done for the most important people- my KIDS and the other five kids we give gifts to. The rest are basically SOL>.
I hear you!! I went the Wednesday before Thanksgiving just to avoid the crowds and chaos that would begin the next day. I thought I was going to die. At one point, in the baby department of Target I shoved some carseats to the side on the lowest shelf and sat down! My mother thought I was nuts...until a lady with a baby, probably a month old, came by and gave me the "oh,ya...been there done that" look.
I have done a little shopping since then, but I went in with a list and I knew exactly where whatever I was getting was located...no browsing...basically I started shopping like a man
