June 2012 Moms

crawling

any lo's start crawling yet? I know James is one of the older in the group, born June 2, but he is getting really close!

He now gets in crawling position and rocks back and forth, then he will lunge himself forward.

As soon as he figures out how to move his knees forward he will so be crawling! I think he might in a few days.

Anyone else's lo getting close?

Re: crawling

  • Elliot couldn't care less. Lol! He rolls over less than a second after I put him on his tummy. Tummy time for us equals him rolling around the room cackling.

  • Yes, DS has been doing the same thing. He's been practicing in the middle of the night, too. I hope he figures it out soon because being up for hours every night is wearing on me!

Yesterday evening he got pretty close. He rocked for a while and then shuffled his kness forward a couple of times. Then he promptly got up on his toes and stuck his butt straight up in the air and fell to the side.

I was reading on the 6 to 9 months board that it's about a month from rocking to crawling, so we'll see!

  • DS has been 'creeping' or whatever it's called for the past week. There's definitely forward movement. Yesterday he got up on hands and knees instead of the usual knees/toes and elbows. How long does this last before actual crawling?

  • DD's idea of crawling is burrying her head into the ground and pushing with her legs. She does move, but then she cries because it hurts her face rubbing on the carpet. If she'd just pick up her head, she'd be golden.

  • DS has been doing the rocking back and forth for a couple weeks now. Last night he was grabbing game cords on the floor....we just moved and haven't located the tv stand yet hehe.....I moved them out of reach and he actually crawled himself towards them then fell on his face! It's a start. I think he'll be crawling by xmas for sure :-)
  • Renee lunges forward and sometimes gets a few inches, but no real crawling yet!

  • I'm not sure he'll ever crawl - he screeches in fury when we put him on his belly and immediately rolls over.

Mine is doing the same thing! She was born on the 3rd so also one of the older babies.

  • Kara has been very quickly army crawling all over the place for about 6 weeks.  Yesterday she started cruising on my coffee table.

    NOT READY for this!

  • We are late June (29th)... and no where near crawling! So far we only roll over one way.

  • She can get her butt up in the air, but doesn't quite have the upper body strength to crawl.  I think it'll be another few weeks.  DS didn't crawl until 10 months, she is definitely ahead of him.

this. She buries her head on the floor and screams with frustration. She got the lower half down :P

  • I don't think mine is super close, but I do know he will be crawling the second he can. Every time during tummy time, he flails his arms and legs wildly as if he's "swimming". He needs more strength to support himself on his hands and knees. My husband noticed tonight that he was starting to figure out how to propel himself forward a tiny bit.

He has very little interest in rolling over. We've only seen him do tummy to back a grand total of three times - and the first time was an accident. The last time we saw it (a few weeks ago) he did it almost effortlessly. So he can roll over, but just doesn't. Never seen him go back to tummy entirely on his own, but I've seen him come close, and wouldn't be surprised if he can also do that but just doesn't.

  • DS started scooting about two weeks ago. He started the "real" hand knee hand knee crawl on Thursday. He hasn't slept since Thursday either. :S
  • Ella digs into the ground with her feet but buries her head into the ground, then gets exhausted and lays her head down, exhausted. She'll get there eventually. Smile

For my daughter it was about two months.  She did the army crawl/roll hands and knees rock from about 9 months or so until around 11 months.  She did not walk until 17 months.

  • LOL My kid is just figuring out how to roll!! She actually just rolled back to belly for the first time tonight. She can push up pretty high when she's on her belly but still needs to work on staying up for longer periods of time and getting onto her knees. My first never really did the normal crawl that most babies do, she went straight to bear crawling on her feet and hands with butt up in the air. I think it's the reason she started walking so early (9 months).

  • Were on the 18th and she just rolled to belly 2days ago. I'm not sure when she'll crawl. Shes been more focused on social interaction. Hopefully she gets scooting at some point. When she sits up she scoots or hips back and forth. So we will see!

  • My LO was born on the 17th.  She's been doing an army crawl for about a week or two now...it's slow going but she definitely can get where she wants to (usually the remote control or our dog!).  She can also get up on her hands and knees and yesterday "crawled" forward on her hands and knees for a second before her legs gave out.  It's so cute to watch her little mind work and the determination on her face....she really wants that remote!
