When did your baby get their first tooth?

DD is 7 months old, and she shows no signs of getting a tooth any time soon. I'm not worried because I know that the ages can vary quite a bit among babies, but I'm just curious as to what the average is.

Also, did they just get one and then nothing more for a little while? Or do they tend to get a couple right in a row?

DD got her 2 bottom front teeth 2 days apart, right at 6mo. She is now 11mo and still just has those two teeth.

I think you're right that is different for every baby. My daughter got her bottom two teeth at the same time just as she turned 5 months. Everything I read said that the top two would come in a few weeks to a month later and no sign yet.

Honestly, I am dreading it. My husband and I now refer to the weekend the bottom two came in as "Hell Weekend." Not looking forward to a repeat!

DD got her bottom 2 teeth at the same time just before 6 months. Nothing more yet, showing some signs of teething, but could just be sick.

DD's first tooth broke the skin on her 8 month birthday. The second was just behind a couple of days later.

DS's bottom two teeth also came in about the same time.

There was a kid in DS's daycare room who still had no teeth at 15 months!

S is 8 months tomorrow and has no teeth! He has been teething quite badly for the last week or so. Apparently the longer teeth stay in the gums the higher the levels of enamel they have so I am in no rush!! Our doctor said could be as late as 18 months.

Holy cow! Is there an age where it starts to become concerning that they don't have teeth? I mean obviously if they are 5 yrs old and don't have teeth, then something is probably wrong. But like in the first year or two?

It varies sooo much! DS and DD both got the bottom 2 at the same time at 5.5m. DS had 12 teeth by the time he was 1yo but my niece still only had 2 at 15months. All of DS teeth came in pairs.

Mine doesn't have any teeth yet, either! I seem to remember that DS#1's teeth came in later as well so I'm not really worried about it.

DS got his first tooth at 7 months and his second a week later. My niece got her first tooth at SEVENTEEN months and now at 18 months has six. Six teeth in a month poor kid

Eta my niece's doctor said they like to see kids get their first tooth by 18 mos but it's not unheard of for it to take up to two years. If she didn't cut one by 18 mos they were going to refer her to a pediatric dentist.

DS got first two bottom teeth at 6.5 months. Then got another bottom tooth a week after those. He got his fourth bottom tooth last week. It's been hell with each tooth. I dread the top teeth coming in. Hoping for a break before then.

DD is almost 7 months and no sign of a tooth yet. I have heard of some kids not getting teeth till 1 or 2 but that's rare. I am kind of happy no teeth yet, she would look so grown up

my co-workers daughter was 16 months when they talked to their Dr. about her not getting any teeth. She was told that if she didn't get any teeth by 18 months they may have to cut them out! Sounds awful. She had to have a special x-ray of sorts to determine that she had teeth and once they determined that the teeth were there they waited. One day around 17months she got her first tooth so they haven't had to go back to the special dentist. TG!

DS got his two bottom teeth at the same time - just after his 4 month birthday. No signs of any more coming in, though.

I'm surprised at the wide range of ages for first-tooth appearances.

Ds got his two bottom within two days of each other at 4.5 months. He cut the 4 top ones within a week at 6 months and this past week he's working on 2 more on the top. The first didn't didn't phase him at all. The others have been rough!

DD1 got her first tooth at 9 months. DD2 just got her 2 bottom teeth at the same time at 7.5 months. Needless to say, it was a rough couple of days when they were both breaking through at the same time.

Last night! It literally came in during the evening because my SIL "checked" in the afternoon and I felt them in the evening. Both bottom teeth are emerging together.

Today! Exactly 6.5 months. It's the bottom right and the bottom left is right behind it. This week has not been fun. DD has literally woken from a dead sleep screaming bloody murder each night this week. Tonight is better.

DD got her bottom two at 4.5 months, and just got 3 more - another bottom and her top incisors. I figured the middle top ones would come in first. She looks like a baby vampire! And it looks like she's about ready to get another bottom one, so she'll have 6 teeth. Every baby is different, and apparently so is the order that they come in!

Around 4 months he got a bottom tooth, then two weeks later another bottom, now he's 7 1/2 months and getting 2-3 top all at the same time.

DD got her first 2 bottom teeth at 3 months, then the next bottom tooth about two weeks later. A few weeks after that she got her top 2 teeth. About 2 weeks ago she got her next 2 top teeth. So now she's got SEVEN teeth, all growing in quick. I joke that at her first bday party we'll serve corn on the cobb Party!!!

We're super lucky, though. Through all of these teeth she's only shown minimal fussiness. She's rarely fussy so when she gets irritable we stick a finger in the lions den and usually find another chomper!
