I've been invited to a Gala this evening. The word "gala" intimidates me, however, I'm getting mixed messages about the formality of the event.

Title: Gala (says dressy)?

Location: Art academy (dressy)

Invitation: Computer printout on xmas paper (not-so-dressy)

Entertainment : Appetizers, alcohol, art auction, karaoke (the karaoke really throws me off)

So, would a "little black dress" and heels be safe? And slacks, shirt, and tie safe for my date??

I would say yes, the LBD would be safe. That is dressy, and the invite does not say formal, or even semi-formal.

DD1 is 3, DD2 is 1.
