Did you cry...

in September 2012 Moms
when you returned to work? I'm afraid I'm going to be an emotional mess. If so, were your coworkers cool with it? Mine are students. I can't see that going over well. They need me to be excited to see them. Thank god I have first hour prep. I'll put my makeup then.

    I cried the night before. I won't lie, it's hard. I had a really hard adjustment period but the ladies here made me feel much better! I was worried DS would take to his daycare provider more than me and because I was always working he wouldn't be attached like I wanted him to be. They reminded me that DS will always love me most and working was something I needed to do to provide him the best life he deserved. Anyway, I know you weren't looking for a story book on how hard it is but I will say that it does get so much better even after the first day! Good luck and just remember that it's ok to cry! Big Smile

    I did.. I went to the bathroom. I'm a group home care giver but I can imagine with students would be hard!

    I cried all day the day before. The day of, I didn't cry at all. By Wednesday I'd had enough and was in tears. Overall it gets easier (just like everyone says).

    Actually, not at all.  My MIL keeps him most days... I can bring him to work whenever I need to, so it's not so bad here.

    I cried at daycare and when I got to work. All my coworkers are bet supportive about it.

    Yes. Both times. I'm sure I will again this time. I love maternity leave. Hanging with baby. No real life responsibility. Going back to work ends that. :. I have big respect for those that SAH.

    You guys are making me feel like a terrible mom. I didn't cry. Honestly, it was so busy here the first day I barely had time to think about anything. I'm not really a cry kind of person. It take a lot to get me there.

    I did. I also work in a school, but in a different role, so I had time before jumping right in with students. It does get easier and when you're busy all day, time flies by. Good luck!

    I cried the night before and at drop off that morning. But, once I got to work I was so busy getting caught up and had first day jitters that I didn't get a chance to be sad until my pump break.

    I'm crying now just thinking about it and I still have two weeks. I don't know how I'm ever going to do it. I work overnight 10 hour shifts. My husband will have the baby but I'm deathly afraid he will not wake to her cry. We even got a monitor where I can see her while I'm gone just in case. I'm still afraid he will not wake to the phone. He sleeps hard.

    Ugh I'll never make it.

    I didn't but I think it's because I work parttime right now and he's with my mom, my dad or DH when I'm at work.

    When I pick up a full time caseload in Febraury and have to find a "real" daycare, I'm pretty sure I will cry my eyes out the first time I leave DS there.

    This is what makes me the most nervous. I hate my job and am dreading sitting at my desk 8 hours a day thinking about how much I miss her. And coworkers are nosy. "Do you miss your baaaaaaby?" "Awwww how arrrrre youuuu?"

    No, I didn't. But I missed him like crazy and wanted to get home asap. Instead of crying, it manifested as antsy and distracted.

    I'm a teacher as well. I go back on Monday. I'm going to be a mess! It's hard to be so emotional when you're "on" teaching. The energy in the class reflects yours. I feel like my first couple weeks are going to be a disaster.

    No crying for me. I LOVE where he is so I had no worries leaving him. It was actually nice to not have him depend on me 100%. (EBF)

    I am still on mat leave for DD, but with DS, I cried the day before & I cried on the way home on the first day b/c I was stuck in crazy traffic.

    I transitioned to WFH shortly after!

    I am a Kindergarten teacher, and I also return on Monday. I am so thankful I love my assistant, and that she is caring and supportive, because I think having another adult in the room with me will help. I'm also hoping my kids will keep me so busy that I won't have a moment to sit and sulk. I imagine my drive in to work will be incredibly hard. I am dreading it.

    I was pretty emotional. I never actually cried this time but I teared up. With J I took her to work with me for two weeks but when she started staying with the sitter I cried. A LOT.  All I can tell you is that it will get easier.
