Babies: 9 - 12 Months

Fever w/ 9 mo old

Tiny has had a fever since Monday morning, its been bouncing between 100-102, last night it was its highest at 102.4 I have been giving him tylenol when needed and cool wash cloths, light clothes.

I called his pedi yesterday and they told me since he's still really happy and has no eye boogers, nose boogers or lung issues, and his ears are clear. To just keep him home and treat the fever.

What else can I do?

  • Sounds like you're doing it all already mama. Just keep a close eye that his temperature doesn't spike, and I hope your LO feels better soon!

  • Yeah I keep a serious eye on him. Its his first time with a fever and his older brother spikes super high (like 104-105) and has febrile seizures. We've just never experienced fever this little before.

  • I would check with your pediatrician first about Ibuprofin. I can't remember at what age it was ok to start giving DD1 Motrin, and I haven't had to with DD2 yet (knock on wood), but I know you can't at first. It may be six months, but definitely check first. Once they can, its great, because like PP said, you can really keep a fever in check using both.

  • Its 6 mo for Ib Profen. We had to give it to him at night when he cut all four top teeth over the weekend (last week)

He's been nursing a ton, I'm keeping an eye on his soft spot for sunkenness and keep offering sippy of water/apple juice.  Along with nursing.

Its so scary when they spike like that, but I know I am more "relaxed" about "high" fevers because I've experienced with Buddy a true "high" fever.
