The time for the middle of the night wake-up with a likely sinus/ear infection and a hacking cough so bad the poor boy is projectile spewing from coughing... Of course, it used to be (when DD was a baby) you'd call the nurse line in the middle of the night and they could schedule an appointment first thing when it got to this point of pretty clear it's a quick we know what it is, treat it and out the door in 5... NOPE! Not anymore!!! <insert
here> .. While DH & I are up (yea, that whole "I'll sit with him on the chair" turns into "I need to stay up with him for moral support the whole time"), the little guy's tylenol kicked in and we get to wait until 8AM before the clinic opens and we can see if there's any appointments available before 1:00 when the Urgent Care opens up...
Ugh...
(and P.S. to the nurse from the care line - the head injury from 11.5mo ago has NOTHING to do with an ear/sinus infection and yellow/green snot today... so why bring it up "as if"..)
Re: It's that time of year... Sinus/ear infection season..
I feel for you! Hope you get into the clinic this morning. I seriously dislike the nurse lines. I called one once, she asked all about DS and his history, bla bla bla, and at the very end she says, "according to my guide, he should come to the ER." YOUR GUIDE?! I wanted your nursing opinion, not some guide's answer. I could do your job, lady! Ohhh I was mad.
Hope he feels better soon!
According to all of "their guides" you should go to the ER! I swear, that's the advice you get 9/10 of the time... Yea, why would I want to go to the ER and pay $1500 to find out it's an ear infection when I can go to urgent care in the morning and pay $40 total... Not to mention "we'll call you back" in the middle of the night when the rest of the house is sleeping..
The doc he had this AM was pretty cool - even if the first question when looking at his chart was asking about his trip to the neurosurgeon when he had the head injury.. Poor little Bug though! He rarely takes a nap for me and he's zonked out in his carseat.. Of course, there's shell shock and realizing I should be taking advantage of this to do some work around here (but you know the second I do he'll wake up LOL)
