New thing - crying between spoonfuls?!?!

I started her on food 11/13 and she's done great.  However, she now cries between spoonfuls and put's her fingers in her mouth.  It's not the "Hurry and spoon it in" cry like b/f.  No teeth have erupted yet either.  As soon as I hold the spoonful of food in fron of her mouth, she takes it then cries, takes it, cries.  I did run out of rice cereal and bought mixed, barley and oatmeal.  Maybe she ONLY like rice cereal?  But she eats then cries.  Any ideas ladies?

Re: New thing - crying between spoonfuls?!?!

  • sounds like she's overly hungry... even tho you're saying its not the "your not getting it in here fast enough" cry, its different, if her tummy is hurting because she's hungry no matter how fast you spoon, won't make a difference.

do you give milk before the meal? we try to give DD a sippy of milk (formula or bm) about an hour before a meal, that way she's not overly hungry and the food is still for fun, but she's not overly full and not wanting to eat more.

    hopefully it passes...

  • You could be right.  I can't give her anything w/ calcium 2 hours b/f or after she eats b/c she takes flouride and it'll bind w/ the calcium instead of absorb into her system.  I'm probably going to have to manuver when I give her the flouride drops.
  • I don't know, it could be the opposite too - I just figured out that when my DD does this, it means she doesn't want any more.  Even though she'll open her mouth for food, she's actually done eating.  I learned the hard way and kept feeding her... and then she ended up throwing it all back up.
