What are you getting LO for Christmas and what are you getting for birthday?
J has SO many toys and so many clothes that he doesn't need anything. We talked about buying him one of those cars for outside since he does not really have any outside toys yet. Other than that I'm stumped

He's getting a balance bike from MIL, some money put in his college savings fund from my parents, and a few small things from us. We are also wrapping up a bunch of DH's old Dr Seuss books, and filling his stocking with underwear, socks and PJs. We're cheap this year

For her birthday: from my parents a play kitchen, my IL play food and we are giving her some art supplies, a magnadoodle and an apron that I made her.
,
For Christmas: my parents got her a basketball hoop/tee ball/golf set and a minnie chair. My IL got her a baby doll stroller and im sure something else. We are giving her a play tent with a tunnel and a few games and movies.
I also forgot we got her a little tool box set but I dont know when we will give that to her!
I think outdoor toys are good gifts for this age. We are giving her little roller skates that go over her sneakers and my parents are getting her a cozy coupe for her bday.
For Christmas we're giving her a shopping cart and my parents are giving her some Minnie Mouse clothes. She's a big Minnie fan.
the ILs got her a leap pad2, but I'm not sure how I feel about it. I recently stopped letting her use my iPad because she's been throwing a fit every time I try to take it away.
The only gifts that we're thinking about are a baby doll for her birthday and a play kitchen for Christmas. We are hoping that grandparents and aunts and uncles will get small accessories to go along with this. She has so much stuff already!
If you don't want toys you could always get a pass for the zoo or rec center or children's museum. We've been on a tight budget this year so he hasn't had many new toys. He got a train table for his birthday (table was used but we got some new trains to go with it) and we're getting a play kitchen for both kids (even though K won't be playing with it for a while still). His stocking will have some new art supplies and bath toys.
Her big gifts are a trike and an easel. Little things are the next stage of puzzles, some books that are a little longer, a LOL Elmo, and some pretend play things -- purses, took set, doctor kit.
We don't buy toys during the year so this is her time to get the things she will play with over the course of the next year, so I try to "buy ahead" and I will stash some of the things away and bring them out over the year as she reaches that development stage.
I already did an initial purge of her toys and will complete my purge before we leave for Christmas (all the puzzles she got last year need to go away, her learn to walk/ride on toys need to go, the last of the really baby toys, etc.) so that when we come home from my parents' house with all her new things she won't even notice the old stuff is gone.
We don't buy any toys either. He just got so much last year. I would love to purge but DH is adamant to not get rid of anything in case we decide to TTC again So our guest bedroom closet is crammed with all of J's old stuff just in case ::sigh::

Oh, your H and mine must be in cahoots. He won't let me get rid of any of her clothes on the off chance we someday decide to ttc again, conceive another girl child, and she is then born in the same season as B. All of the above are HIGHLY unlikely as far as I am concerned.
I finally convinced him that storing the toys was pointless, especially anything electronic, because by the time we would ever get around to having hypothetical child number 2 technology will be better, so we might as well let other children get use out of them while they are still "in style." He let me pack up a giant box and we sent it to BIL/SIL for our newphew who is 13 months younger than B.

It is so frustrating isn't it? I made a comment about the next baby might be a girl and his response was "then half way through your pregnancy we will get rid of all the clothes. At least we'll still have all the toys, car seat, and nursery stuff" huh? Our hypothetical little girl gets nothing new but clothes? Lol

I put a rule in place to keep my DH from going on a Toys R Us buy out. J gets 2 toys and 2 outfits for bday, 2 toys and 2 outfits for Christmas, and 1 big item from Santa and the accessories in his stocking.
Birthday: Basketball hoop, Leapfrog Tag Jr. w/ books
Christmas: T-ball set, set of dinosaurs like the ones at our Children's Museum
Santa: Easel with chalk, crayons, paper, magnets in his stocking.
My MIL can't help herself and has purchased several outfits and a ton of toys for his bday and Christmas. My mom luckily doesn't have as much $$ as the IL's so she can't go as crazy but I'm sure she's got plenty of toys and clothes for him too. Trust me when I say this kid is NOT hurting for toys and clothes. SIGH Poor DS2, when he gets here he's getting nothing but hand me downs for his first year LOL

Just an idea, we use ours as a car only toy. It lives in the car. Win win.
We are giving him a scooter for xmas and that's pretty much it besides a low budget stocking.
My mil goes crazy with toys... Even getting Duncan duplicates of what she got Oliver last year. You know, because we have unlimited space and the boys shouldn't learn to share!
My mother said she is getting him music lessons and swim lessons.

For Christmas he's getting one of the bear brothers from Brave, a book and a Home Depot workshop bench.
I went a little crazy but nothing was/is super expensive so it's ok.
