Re: FFFC

  • imageShmogan09:

I was terrible, no good, very bad mother the other weekend .  A friend of mine had a jewelry party so I went alone and DH had both boys for the night.  She made her own margaritas and warned me they were really strong but I proceeded to drink 3!  My friends were partially to blame because apparently I am hilarious when I drink so they were shoving them in my hand since they never get to see me drunk anymore.  (yep, I just blamed peer pressure!) I came home completely sloshed, had great sex and passed out.

Here is where the bad mom part comes in... I COULD NOT get out of bed the next day.  I was so sick, I threw up all day and couldn't even nurse because I was so dehydrated.  DH took care of the boys all day but he was so over me.  He didn't say anything, but I could tell by the fact that he never checked on me.  I tried to drive to McDonalds to get a pepsi and fries and threw up in my lap before I left the driveway!  Yep, I was a hot mess!  Definitely sticking to 1 drink form now on.

This made me LOL. Stick out tongue

I know the post about bragging on our DHs is supposed to be encouraging and I did participate. But somehow it also works the opposite way for me- I read the other women's posts about their DHs and start comparing, which is not how it should be, and then I become bitter and dissatisfied. Maybe I should just stay away from those posts even though it initially sounds like a great idea.

My H gets up with the girls frequently and is an awesome dad, but he SUCKS when it comes to talking about feelings (and would be the first to admit that).  I think that I would pass out if he knew that I was upset about something - even something not related to him - and said "do you want to talk about it?".  When I do vent to him about work/family/friend issues he sits and listens but he's not an active listener and doesn't really offer advice.  He's also not great about surprising me with little things or doing romantic stuff.  So I might get jealous when other women mention that their H's do those things but I know that we're not all perfect and we all have things that we're great at and things we're not great at.  My H might be behind the eight ball on certain things, but he makes up for them in other ways.  When I read threads like the one you mentioned I try to look at it from that perspective.

I haven't been as busy lately, but this board is too boring in the last couple of weeks. I've been a dirty lurker. I read everything, but I don't feel compelled to chime in.

Bish, maybe we wouldn't be so boring if you'd quit being just a dirty lurker!!!! Stick out tongue

    I was totally thinking this!!

Bishes, my dramzmeter is broken, and I'm sick of trying to make things interesting around here for you. But yo, maybe we just need to start a call-out thread and start letting everyone know how we really feel about them. That might do it. Or since that's not going to be well received, start another love train thread and poop puppies and rainbows all over each other. Anything to get this board back up and running again.

Then get to it. I'd start it, but I'm not nearly as clever or hilarious as you.

On a similar-but-not-really subject, where the heck has Sooner been? I'm not excited about the MIA status of so many of our regs.

Maybe if you guys would stop teasing her, she'd want to participate. After the flu shot thing, I am not surprised that she hasn't been around.

I wish I would have "saved myself" for hubs... how awesome of a "gift" would that have been? .........   I plan on being 100% honest with Aria about this, and I plan to do everything I can to help her make smart decisions when it comes to sex so that she will hopefully never feel this way. The world takes sex too lightly, in my opinion.

This. I had a rough time with family when I was younger and took it out by being fairly promiscuous. For a long time I looked back on those years without regret-- that I learned a lot of lessons and about who I was and wouldnt feel like I "missed out" on anything by only being with one man.

Now that Ive found that man? I'm totally sorry. I'm envious of all of you who waited. My mom never talked to me about anything related to that- ever. I learned from friends and TV and never knew the real value sex could hold. I plan on making sure I make it an easily accessible topic to Kyle so he makes smarter decisions than me.

  • I guess my FFFC (which I'm sure will be no surprise) is that I like Sooner and her long posts.  There are people on here who I find I generally don't agree and find somewhat eye roll inducing, so I don't read their posts or skim over them.  If you don't like Sooner's posts, especially the long ones, why not just skip them?  I just don't get the constant "how can she even find time for those posts?".  She types faster then most of us and her brain is apparently very analytical so that's how she thinks and how she types.  I really hope that she hasn't been chased off by this sentiment because I know that I, and I believe a good amount of other people, find her information very helpful.

Yeah, the tldr would have annoyed me much more then that post.  I read that post as sarcastic and maybe poking fun a little, but nothing bad that would bother most people.  I guess people who are sensitive might get upset by it, but she doesn't strike me as that type.

  • Over vacation I fed Lucia almost an entire bottle a little less than 6 oz by picking up tiny bits with my straw and letting it drip into her mouth. I felt ridiculous, but she hadn't finished any bottles all day, and she drank less than one oz of that dinner bottle. She was heading towards constipation because she was drinking so little, and I didn't want her to be miserable. But I still felt ridiculous doing it!

I didn't see that post, so I'm going to put my "brag" here.

It was horribly stormy last night, and an overgrown rosebush on the front/side of the house was scratching really annoyingly on the window. So, before bed, my DH went outisde in his Southpark pajama pants with a flashlight, and hacked off the offending part of the rosebush with a katana sword. How cool is that? The best part is, he got the katana sword for $1 from the knife show on cutlery corner a few years ago, when he bought a package deal of 100 knives for $100, and gave them out as Christmas presents to all the men in our family. (which people loved btw. Who would have thought?)

These are the things I think are cool. I'm going to read the rest of the FFFC thread now. Stick out tongue

Yeah, honestly, I don't give a flying flip about whether it is or not.  I guess I don't see the point of participating in an open forum where there is another "secret" forum where everyone gathers to privately make fun of someone, but then act different in "public."  I don't know.  Just seems kinda like the FB group is apparently heading back to middle school, and my 30-year old self would rather not get all wrapped up in that kind of drama.

The funny thing is that in middle school, I would have cared.  Or at least probably tried to change my (posting) style to fit in.  But now, I just honestly can't work up the energy to care.  I post topics and reply to posts that I think are interesting.  Because I think they are interesting, I generally have a lot to say about them.  If you don't think they are interesting, skip them.   I like bringing some science to parenting discussions--but if you don't, then just ignore my comments.

I don't get why certain people feel the need to get their kicks by making fun of a person in a locked forum...at least if you honestly can't stand me/think it is annoying when I quote statistics and studies instead of "what feels right in my mommy heart"/can't handle that I say "all y'all" and "fixing to" on a daily basis/etc., say it in this forum, where I can respond (or, more likely, not respond, but just make a note to stop paying attention to your future posts!).  At least then you would be acting a tad more like an adult...

By the way, I am not GBCB-ing, because I actually do like a lot of you and love having interesting conversations about different parenting issues that aren't always as honestly discussed among real-life friends.  But, I guess now that the stuff about the FB group has come out, I am less likely to want to just "hang out" here and discuss vacation ideas, cute baby pics, cute things that our husbands do, etc.  It just feels less like a community than before--and my real friends don't talk about me behind my back.  Smile (Kle taught me that if you use a smiley face, it means you can say whatever you really think, without any repercussions!)

I usually don't get involved when this stuff starts but since you responded to my post, I'll reply. I will admit I saw the page to you and thought "who is that person and they have little to no action on the bump?" To me, all it was was a thought. I did not necessarily think it was someone from the FB board though.

I'm more active on the FB board than here because it's easier from my phone. It has nothing to do with posting something there that I would not post here.

I know you wrote you don't care what anyone thinks and neither do I really, but I hope this satisfies you and this topic can die. It's not necessary. Just like the "what do you think of me posts?" who cares???

Then get to it. I'd start it, but I'm not nearly as clever or hilarious as you.

On a similar-but-not-really subject, where the heck has Sooner been? I'm not excited about the MIA status of so many of our regs.

I'm just gonna say it. She got a PM yesterday from what I can only assume is an AE, and I'm also gonna assume that person belongs to the FB group.

I was thinking the same thing.

    So...is it true?

Sooooo....I know I've definitely made a few bishy comments to you  on here before, but I actually do read your posts. And I think the same thing that might make your posts too long for an internet forum, in some people's opinions, is probably a very beneficial skill in the legal world. You know, logic, and...oh...reasoning .....or analysis. Just putting that on the record.

I'm just gonna say it. Please don't leave. Crying

  • Ugh! Not the kind of drama I was hoping for, ladies. Why didn't the religion discussion catch on? We're not 15!

This is a UO, but since I know I will forget by next Thursday-

Yes, the board needed some spicing up this week, but these WDYT of me posts are ridiculous.
