Babies in daycare

This week was DS's 6th week at daycare and he started getting sick after the third day. Thankfully he hasn't had a fever or been bothered by it. He just finished his 2nd antibiotic but he still has a mucusy cough. Anyone else going through this? STM, when does this go away? TIA!

  • I'm not a STM and I'm actually a ftm/sahm but my nieces go to daycare and have since 8 weeks old. One is 3 and one is 2. One of them has been sick every other month since they started. It just happens because there are so many kids. But they will have great immune systems in a few years!

  • Dax was sick every two weeks for six months til I quit to stay home. It never got better. He's been sick once in the last year since I've been home. But all the mumble jumble about their immune systems becoming stronger because of all their sickness might be good for them. Who knows.

  • I think it's just one of those unfortunate things. My son was sick countless times after he started daycare for probably over a year straight. He went to very small, in home daycares from 4 weeks old to the age of 3. After he started at the larger center, he was sick so many times it was ridiculous. I think he was constantly sick fors an entire year. The year he was 3, he had pneumonia THREE times. One of those times he was hospitalized for almost a week. I was religious about keeping him clean but no matter what I did he got sick. These days he's very healthy. But man, that was so hard when he was in daycare.

  • My little one was sick at...hm....maybe 14 weeks? She seemed bothered by it for about two days, but other than that she was just stuffy, She's only just now getting a fully clear nose. I'm not a fan of antibiotics.

  • Griffin started day care a month ago and has his second cold. This week it was a lot worse than the first time. I had him to the doctor twice.

  • We're only on daycare week 2 and luckily she's healthy so far, but I know it's early.  We use an in-home daycare, so there aren't that many kids.  Our provider says she typically doesn't see new babies in her care get sick all that often, so hopefully that is the case.

  • Week 5 in daycare and LO currently has strep throat AND an ear infection. 5 days straight with a fever.  And his day care just told me he feels a little warm...UGHHH
