When a bf baby is fed formula, is it normal for them to become extremely (like crying, wont breathe) fussy and have explosive poo within the hour?
Does it take a few feedings to get used to?
I think my 6 week old LO has a milk protein allergy, so I tried similac soy for the first time. After 2 oz she quit eating but still seemed hungry...and then all hell broke lose.
Do I try again -I REALLY don't wanna put her through that again! - or assume she's allergic because milk and soy allergies usually coincide?
I need to start weaning her but I'm desperate to find a formula that doesn't cause her pain
TIA
Re: Need to wean, question please
If you're feeling overwhelmed with the idea of going dairy/soy free, you can do a formula trial while you pump to maintain your supply and work on your diet. Then after a couple wks, you could try going back to bf'ing. Might take some of the pressure off of adjusting your diet a bit. [Just a thought. I think you had posted before and were initially going to try going dairy free. I understand if you feel like you're not up for it, but if you need support, we're here].

Thank you so much shotzi!
Does a reaction happen that fast? Given her next diaper of mucous, that's what I decided, but after my ped laughed at me I just dunno.
Does it normally take babies an adjustment period from ebf to ff? I'd like to know what to expect when I try the alimentum. I also boiled the water, is that necessary?
I am going to see what I can do with the diet. Im on unpaid leave from work so funds are limited. She was doing so much better since I cut out milk and cheese, so i will for sure stick to that. As far as your pump for supply recommendation, I am going back to work next month and I'm not gonna be able to pump, so I have to wean anyway. I want to wait as long as possible, but I need to at least know which formula works. It's not ideal, but 11 weeks is better than nothing, and maybe I can build a lil supply before then...
Thanks again!
I don't know about the water, does the can give directions?
As far as money being tight, you don't need to buy anything special. You can eat fresh chicken, beef, turkey, rice, oatmeal, fruits, veggies...just fresh, whole foods.
Anyway, I hope you find what works well for your LO!
