formula mamas! question...

...can you refrigerate formula? I use the powder formula if that matters. My 9 week old is starting daycare on Monday (yuck, I know...no other choice :( ) and they said to bring "pre made" bottles...I asked about this, and they told me I can make the bottles and they will refrigerate them.  when we were in the hospital, they told us once those pre-made bottles the hospital has is opened, they need to be used within one hour.  Thoughts?

Re: formula mamas! question...

  • They told us that the premade bottles need to be used within an hour of opening. If you make formula, you can store it for 24 hours. If they drink out of the bottle powdered formula it needs to be used within 2 hours. Something about bacteria in their mouths.

  • You can store refrigerated bottles for up to 24 hours. Any bottle that has been brought to room temp needs to be used within an hour.

  • So if I am mixing powder and water to make a bottle as long as its refrigerated it's good for 24 hours, right?
