3 cm at 35 weeks!

I had my 35 week check up this afternoon. Doc told me I was 3 cm dilated and she would probably see me by this weekend. My first baby came at 36 weeks. I know you can be dilated and "stuck" for a while, but I also know that 2nd babies usually progress faster. Anyone have any experience with being dilated to 3 and how long until they went into active labor? I know it's hard to tell, I was just surprised that my doc said she would probably see me this weekend. Thanks!

    Well every pregnancy is different, but with my last (it was my first pregnancy) I was 3 cm at my 39 week appointment and didn't have DS until 41 weeks 6 days.

    I have also heard that second babies progress faster and my experience doesn't mean you won't have your LO this weekend (I assume your doctor knows a lot more about your history and current pregnancy and that's why they said that)

    My fingers are crossed that your baby stays in and cooks a little longer! GL!

    I;m a FTM, but my friend just had her 2nd, and she stayed 4 cm for four weeks before she had LO, but pregnancy and baby is different.

    With DD I was dilated to a 3 at 29 wks, and had her at 37 wks 3 days. 2nd babies don't always come sooner either, DS was induced at 39 wks 4 days.

    With DD I was 2.5 cms at 35 weeks. I was induced at 39 weeks because I was about 6 cms.

    Just posted about this - I was 3cm and 80% effaced from weeks 36-40!

    I'm on baby #4.  Have been dialed to a 3 & 50%. Since I was 35 wks ....I'm now 38 wks tomorrow....baby's hanging out!! Lol.   I think everyone is different, my dr also told me yesterday that he plans on seeing me this  weekend, but I'm not holding my breath, they can't really guess, it's all when baby is ready!!!   Good luck to you!!   :).

    I have been 4cm and 80% effaced since 35 weeks and like you my daughter came at 36 weeks. Now I'm over 38cm and totally disappointed that my baby isn't here. Try not to get your hopes up.
