Babies: 9 - 12 Months

Would you paint with a baby in the house?

Dh and I are getting ready to start painting our new house. Right now we are out of luck on babysitters. It's a long story but MIL was lined up to watch DS but now is unable..Grr!  I have called everybody! :-(

Would you paint a whole house with a baby there? Of course he wont be in the same room were painting and we'll probably only do one room a day. (well have plenty of ventilation) We already have the paint were using and I dont think it says low VOC's or anything like that.

The carpet installers are coming next week so this has to be done in the next few days.

  • Forgot to add, I was gonna go over at DS's bedtime so he'll be sleeping as we paint.

  • yep, we just did. I thought the paint was going to smell horrible and I was a bit worried about it and ready to take DD to my ILs and spend a few nights there... but you couldn't even smell it! The painters told me it wasn't going to be a problem and that they painted homes with babies there all the time. They were right. I was pretty shocked at how little it smelled.

  • We left town for the weekend when we painted here, but we're in an apartment. I guess a house is different.

  • Yes we did paint walls & wood trim it was smelly. But a month ago in TX it was in teh 70's so I had all 3 downstairs doors that lead outside open to air it out. We were mostly confined in his room when they did wood trim but when they did walls it wasn't that bad. It took about 4 days to air the stink out.
