Still working. I worked up until the day before my due date with my son and plan to work up to or maybe even beyond my due date with my daughter. I won't lie...I got tired last time and am getting tired this time, but I can see the end...just eight more school weeks (+2 weeks of breaks or conference/inservice days). I can do it.
I'm still working and plan on it until my Christmas break begins Dec. 21. I'm due on the 29th. I'm a teacher so being out next week for Thanksgiving is helpful.
With DD, I had an induction scheduled on a Monday evening and worked until the Wednesday prior. I went into spontanious labor in the middle of the night on Thursday and delivered Friday at lunch time. The last few weeks were hard, but it wast terrible.
With THIS one, my doctor took me out of work at 30 weeks. He is concerned about preterm labor and baby's growth and felt I needed to be resting and on a modified bed rest plan. I am lucky that work is covering it through disability leave and that it is seperate from my FMLA leave if I want to take 12 weeks after birth. I only get 6 weeks paid or 8 with csection after the birth, so I couldn't take the 12 even if I wanted to. I was in denial at first, and convinced I would return to work at least parttime before my due date. But the fact that I have been off for over a week and am still having episodes of regular contractions makes me think I may be out until after my maternity leave. : blah! Being off work but restricted in your activity isn't nearly as relaxing as one would thinkI just see all of the stuf that needs to be done at home but can only do a fraction of it...and I sit and think about all of the things that need to be done at work and I can't go and do it. Oh, and this time around I have a toddler to wrangle despite more limitations.
If thisbia what it takes to keep baby safe and growing, I guess I will continue to spend my days making crafts to decorate DD's room and the nursery and watching bad daytime TV.
Last day is November 30! Although I have an appointment next Wednesday and last time I got taken off work early at 36ish weeks, due to swelling and high BP. I am having some swelling now so am prepared that Thursday may be my last day. Oh well! I am ready to be done! I'd love to have some extra time with DH and DD before baby arrives. Plus, sleep.
I guess technically now I should be SecondBabyMomma
I am and I will keep working until Christmas Break which is 12/21.
This. Pregnancy is not a disability and I don't see why people stop working weeks before. Stay active, work, and try to rest. It's not like you can call into work bc your tired after the baby comes. You'll lose enough days due to dr appts and illnesses.
ETA: of course things are different if your dr orders bed rest or is worried about you or your baby. If it is a normal healthy pregnancy I think you should work until labor starts.
I will be working until my due date - 12/21, but I have a desk job and I get easily bored at home...

I agree that unless there is a medical reason, it is better to work as long as possible. I never would have thought that until my doctor took me out of work, but I definitely worry about how my extended absence will affect my career and promotion eligibility next year.
I guess if I had all the money in the world and wasn't restricted in my activity, being out of work could be fun. If we could afford to take a relaxing beach vacation, hire a decorator to create a gorgeous nursery, and get massages, manicures and pedicures all day, then being out of work for the 3rd trimester would be pretty awesome. BUT as a regular working mama....working until the end helps pass the time and I can say that NOT working isn't that much less stressful unless your job was overwelmingly stressful to begin with.
