Parenting after a Loss

Working full time sucks

I know it's best for her and will give her a nice life but its so freakin hard to leave her so much. I hate it. I wish I could just work part time and make the same amount lol or work from home. I feel like I'm missing so much and no sooner I come home it's time for her bed. I seriously hope this gets easier because I cried all day.

This.  It's tough in the beginning and harder on you than them.  But you're doing the best for your family.  (hugs)

  • I agree with PPs, too.. it does get a little easier.. though, I've been back for 7 weeks and I still feel really "down" some days about being away so much..

Have you thought about discussing P/T options with your employer?

I've considered it.. and, actually even mentioned it to my managers, and semi got an approval.. but, the pay cut just makes it so difficult.. I wouldn't want to put us in a financial situation where we were no longer "comfortable".. plus, in January we'll start with daycare costs, so already a huge chunk of our "flexible spending" $ will be going towards that.. I don't think I could swing paying the DC costs even if I dropped down to 4 days/week..

It is a sucky situation.. I've been posting occasionally on the working mom's board.. you get a decent mix of those who despise working, but have to, and those that choose to work even though they don't "have to".. helps for perspective..

    Hang in there :)
