Will anyone else not have an early ultrasound?

I keep seeing all these ultrasounds and it surprises me. I go to a midwife group and since I am considered low risk, I will likely only have 1 ultrasound at 20 weeks. I also had just 1 with DD2. I had 3 with DD1 only because I had really long cycles before I conceived DD1 and they needed it for dating and then at her 20 week scan they couldn't get the facial measurements because she wouldn't turn over. I have my first appointment 11/29/12 and I know they will use the doppler but I doubt I'll even have bloodwork again until about 14 weeks.

Me! I'll probably only get one at 20 weeks also. I have an appointment 11/27 for bloodwork and then 12/10 probably with a doppler. Would love one sooner but that's just how my OB/GYN clinic works I guess.

I don't know if I will. lol My first is the 28th with a nurse but with DS3 she gave me one just to see if they could pick up a heartbeat. But I don't know if it's something they always do. I had one with DS1 to date, and DS2 becasue of my miscarriages, and to date. I honestly don't think they usually do if they don't have a reason?

I am not having an early ultrasound. My 1st appointment with the midwifery is when I'm 9w3d, and even that is just probably bloodwork at most.

I honestly have no idea if I will. I am going to the original practice that I started with last pregnancy and they gave me a dating u/s because of irregular cycles and lo and behold, they found twins. I am dubbed "fertile mertile" with the nurses there. I'm hoping I get another dating u/s. If not, the first one will be around 12w for the optional NT scan.

My practice routinely does them at 8 weeks. Even if they didn't, I'm sure I'd have one bc of the m/c. I'll be doing the NT scan as well which includes and ultrasound at 12 weeks

Me! I also go to a midwife and only get one at 20 weeks unless there are problems. I only had 1 with both of my girls so I'm not expecting more than one although I'd LOVE one!!

I always get jealous of girls on here that get early u/s or more than one. Oh well!

I will have one at 8 weeks for dating and then one at 20 weeks if all is well. With my last pregnancy I had some early bleeding so besides those two I had one at 6 weeks to check on things and also one at 32 weeks because I was measuring big and they wanted to make sure everything was ok.

Me, too! Well, as long as they don't have any trouble finding the heartbeat with the doppler and need to grab a quick US to find the baby. Before I had my middle kid, I had a missed miscarriage, followed by an incomplete D&C. Between that pregnancy and the US's I had with my DS, I had 13 US's in a year! Needless to say I am over US. Sure, it's reassuring the see your LO, but I won't even see my OB until I am 9 weeks, so as long as they can pick up the heartbeat on the doppler, that's good for me!

I'm having early u/s because I am an IVF patient. If it weren't for that I don't know that I would have as many u/s.

Unless the midwives see a reason for a dating ultrasound, I will wait until 20 weeks for my 1st too. I had an early ultrasound with DS because my uterus was larger than it should have been ro how many weeks along I was. Turned out to be nothing. I had an early on with DD for dating because my LMP and O date had me with due dates that were almost 2 weeks apart. This time both land me with a due date of July 7th so, barring any other issues, I would very much like to wait until 20 weeks.

Raises hand! The waiting is probably the hardest part. I just want to hear that heartbeat. Hopefully before Christmas.

I thought that I wouldn't get an u/s until the optional NT scan since I'm going to a MW this time but they are doing a dating scan next Wednesday since I have longer cycles than the typical 28/30 days. Can't wait to see our next peanut so I'm pleased.

Me! I should've lied and said I had no idea when my LMP was!

All joking aide, unless there's a medical reason I will not get one until 20 weeks either. At first I was pretty upset, until I realized WHY a lot of women get them and realized I need to calm down. As long as I can hear a heartbeat I think I'll be ok with waiting that long.
