  I wanted a smaller-sized wood one and after doing research was ready to buy one of these two:

  Melissa & Doug's Corner Kitchen

  Hape Gourmet Kitchen
  

  I decided I want to make my own now, though, and was inspired by the many Pinterest pins of converting an old entertainment center into a kitchen.  Seems very doable and cheaper.

  Not sure what you had in mind, but if you have an Aldi (grocery store chain) in your area. but we just got one from there for $29.99.  It is large and comes with pots and pans and is neutral in color.  It is not a name brand, but looks very much like the fisher price one that my sister has for her kids.  I am not sure if it is as cool as the one that PPs posted, but it was inexpensive and I figured I could use the extra $ to buy some other more practical gifts for DS for this year.

  We are getting the Cook and Grow by little tykes. I had crazy issues with TRU and they kept lowering the price each time they they F'd up. Ended up spending over 4 hours on the phone but it ended up being like $65 with shipping.

  I had planned to buy this same one but just this week, a friend offered to give us her children's old Step 2 kitchen because they have outgrown it. I think we'll go ahead and just use theirs for awhile and if there are any issues with it (some have mentioned that the plastic ones are more likely to fall over), then we'll get the original one we'd planned on.

  but DID purchase it for a better price on costco.com for $129.79 including tax (free shipping; no charge for Costco members. I forgot to note what the "surcharge" is for non-members). Better price than amazon, that is.

  FYI: anyone who may be interested in this kitchen, it is normally $139.99 through Costco. (Amazon is $146.06 without tax) "

  Valid 11/15/12 through 12/16/12. and while supplies last," Costco gives a $20 off online "discount," hence my total of $129.79

  I hope everyone gives reviews of their LO's kitchens after the holidays (or here if you have one already)!
