I know this site can be brutal...BUT I am so bummed I have not found a name I LOVE for our soon to be here daughter. We have a list...but I am not in LOVE with any of them. My husband LOVES Nixon (would want a different way to spell it-and he claims her nickname would be Nikki). I agree it is different, but I just done know! I keep running it through my head and go back and forth...it is definitely different and no other girl in her class would be Nixyn...I do like more androgenous names like Ryann and Brynn so dont mind that it has a boyish touch to it. Would it be a horrible name?
Nixyn Ryann Van Rees? Nixyn Brinley Van Rees?
Other names we like...are Brynn, Brynley, Mila and Mia...AHHHHH
Our son is Max and Last name is Van Rees.... I thought when I was going to have a girl I would just KNOW the perfect name...but I overanalyze! Help...
Re: Scared to post....but here goes, again?
are we being dared?
HA! Good point...but I dont even like the name Nikki or Nicole! LOL. I am pretty much ruling out Nixon, but just wish I could find a girl name that I love and that I dont waiver on. So many of my friends just "KNOW..." I cant decide.

Look, you're not going to find many people who think that Nixon is a great name, and even fewer who like Nixyn. The y doesn't make it special, it just makes it look like you can't spell. It is your child and you should use whatever name you love. But be aware that if you name your daughter Nixyn, the reaction from most people will not be positive. It may be unfair, but it is true.
If you like androgynous names, I think that Brynn is much better. There are also lots of other named in this vein: Arden, Sloane, Blair, Harper, Greer, Darby, Darcy, Marlo, Shea, etc.
I think that having two children with x names is a bit matchy. But if you like the spiky sound of an unusual consonant you might like: Ever, Roxanna, Zora, or Zelda.
[Edit: Sorry, it takes me a long time to type, so I didn't see your other replies before I wrote the first paragraph.]
Baby Name Popularity by State
I don't like Nixon, especially for a girl...it just makes me think of the president, which is not a good association. I also really hate Brinley/Brynley (one of my top hated names)...it just sounds like the name of a dog or of a little girl with pigtails. Remember, your daughter is going to be an adult for most of her life.
I think that Brynn, Mila, and Mia are fine names. They're NMS, but they'll grow up well. I'm not a huge fan of Ryann, but I think it's better than Nixon or Brinley.
I'm trying to think of names that would be similar to Nixon. Nicolette? Alexis? Beatrix (nn Trixie)?
Thanks for the honesty! I do like Mila as well. I always just wondered if it went well with Van Rees. Mila is very Russian sounding and then Van Rees kind of smacks you in the face with a strong Dutch name... I like the 2 M's as well. Any other first names jump out at you with the last name Van Rees?? Thanks!
What about Maya?
I think Mila Van Rees is great. I wouldn't worry about the different origins. My DD's first name is very French and our last name is very Greek. *shrug*
I think Mila Ryann Van Rees has a nice flow and goes well together! I wouldn't worry about the different origins of names. DD has a Welsh fn, Greek mn and Hungarian ln! Other suggestions: Nina, Malia, Maya, Daniela, Isabella

HaHa! I love all the posts. I can definitely veto nixon now. I have the strength from all your HONEST
posts.
Mia Mila and Brynn are good names. I know you all hate Brinley, but I still kind of like it and like the fact we can call her Brynn if we want. I guess I was just thinking that when I found out I was having a girl I would just KNOW a great name. Did not think it would be this hard.
My DD is Ryann spelled that way because my ex's great grandma was Rhian (traditional welsh female name) and when she came to America, she changed it to Ryann. We kept it that way to honor her. I do like Rhian and Ryan and actually wanted to spell it Rhian but wanted to honor her as well so we went with Ryann.

Vera, Veronica, Vanessa
I LOVE RYANN TOO...JUST HAVING A TOUGH TIME WITH A MIDDLE NAME FOR RYANN...THOUGHTS?
DD is Ryann Olivia. Ryann Mila Van Rees works well to!

Don't be scared. We can be honest and straightforward. But if you're not hyper-sensitive to feedback, you'll be just fine. We like to help!
If you like kind of spunky/funky/quirky names (which I have kind of a soft spot for!), there are a lot of legitimate choices that don't bring to mind the image of a scandalous president. Also, a spunky names is best spelled correctly.
How about:
Juniper, Zora, Dixie, Poppy, Wren, Winter, Luna, or Azalea?
I just want to give you a world as beautiful as you are to me.
Nixon is horrible for a girl (and a boy) and Nixyn just looks like you can't spell. She would forever be associated with the former president. It's completely fine not to like girly names, but don't go extreme.
Ryann, Mila, Mia and Brynn are all great names for a girl. Brynn was on our short list. Here are some mn suggestions:
Mia Juliet
Ryann Stella (I love PP's daughter's name Ryann Olivia)
Mila Caroline
Brynn Camille or Brynn Camilla
Yes! I think we pretty much have our list with Ryann, Mila, Brynn, Mia, and (sorry Brinley). I am completely confident that I can say Nixon is out. I like the MN suggestions. If we go with Mila we will do Mila Ryann, or Mila Lynn. Mia Ryann or Mia Lynn as well. Ryann and Brynn are hard because they need a more feminine touch. Although I do like Ryann Mila and Ryann Lyn (but that seems like a lot of N's). I live Ryann Livia, and Ryann Harper ?? Brynn ?? Ryann Kennedy? Ryann Layne?
I wish i was more decisive lol
I agree that Brynn and Ryann need something more feminine. I love Harper, but paired with Ryann could be construed as a boy.
What about Ryann/Brynn Sophia, Ryann/Brynn Caroline, Ryann/Brynn Gabriella?
I love Mila Ryann.
I love Mila Ryann too and I also like Mia Ryann. Brynn and Ryann are hard for middle names. Brynn Harper could work. Not too keen on Sophia since it is so popular, and I know and dislike greatly a Caroline
Ryann Mia?
I do like the name Brielle, but one of my best friends named her daughter that 2 years ago. We hang out all the time so that would be weird.
Why only one N?

Do you have any family names you would like for middle names with Brynn? Or what about other names you like in general. I would put less emphasis on mn since you don't use it much.
Honestly, I hate Nixon for a girl! It's so masculine! Sorry.
Mia and Mila are both nice names. Brynn isn't bad either but second to the other 2.
Know someone who just named dd Brinley, I think it's awful and ridiculous sounding... Just use Brynn! i ABSOLUTELY love Mia and Mila. Ryann is really pretty for a girl. Nixon is not horrid IMO, but she will loathe her name as an adult, at least I would. Very manly sounding...
I'm going to be honest. Nixyn looks like a stripper or pornstar name. Nixon brings to mind the president and Watergate scandal and is nowhere near feminine.
Ryann, Brynn, Mila, and Mia are great choices.
