My mom passed away last May and I am pregnant with a baby girl. We are naming her after my mom, Audrey, and we are really struggling with a middle name. My mom did not like her own middle name, Ann, and so we aren't going to use it. Any suggestions?
I generally like unusual names but they are very hard to pair with "Audrey." These are the middle names we have tossed around so far with "Fee" and "Ella" being our favorites:
Ella
Fee
Eliza
Sloane
Aurora
Mavis
Layla
Skye
Iris
Isla
Ivy
Thanks in advance for your suggestions!
Re: Middle name for "Audrey"
i like the idea of a middle name that means something special to the couple. could be a song, a flower, a name in the family. Do you know your moms favorite flower or favorite song? maybe you could incorporate that.
audrey rose, audrey iris.. ect.
im very sorry for your loss, and i'm sure she would be proud that her little granddaughter is going to be named after her.
I met a two year old last night named Audrey Ella and loved it.
Audrey is our #1 girl name (DD is Ella) and we are either going to use Grace or Caroline for the mn.
Audrey Fee sounds too sing song-ish to me. And Audrey Ella is just meh.
Audrey Brynn, Audrey Mae, Audrey Piper, Audrey Calla, Audrey Willow, Audrey June
Are there any names on your DHs side that you'd like to incorporate?
With Audrey having so many vowel sounds already, I'd lean toward names that have more solid consonant sound to them. I'd also lean toward having a 1- or 3+ syllable MN to counter the 2-syllable FN:
Audrey Sloane
Audrey Grace
Audrey Ann
Audrey Elizabeth
Audrey Caroline
Audrey Louisa
Audrey Floriane
Audrey Cameron
Audrey Jessenia
Funny, you say that because I chose "Fee" because it is the title of a Phish song. My MIL's middle name is also "Ann" and her first name is "Beverly" so that is a no on both of those. I have dug through other family names on both sides and can't come up with one I like.
My mom was a big believer in reincarnation...for that reason, "Audrey Rose" has to be a no. It's the title of a movie about reincarnation.
My mom's favorite flower was a Daisy...Audrey Daisy -- too close to Oopsy Daisy. But thank you for the thoughtful suggestions.
"Grace" is my grandmother's middle name...I should add it to the list. Thank you!
Obviously, you and I are on the same page. And I am adding "Grace" to the list. TY.
I like Audrey Sloane out of the names you listed. Ella as a mn always sounds like a smoosh name when said out loud with a fn. So I hear Audreella but that's just me.
My brother has Audrey Rebecca picked out for a future daughter. I think it's cute.
Already thinking about baby #3
FWIW, Audrey Piper just leapt into my mind when I read the post title.
I love the name Audrey and I'm sorry for your loss.
I love Audrey Skye, its adorable.
From your list, I like Audrey Sloane, Audrey Isla, and Audrey Iris.
Suggestions are Audrey Victoria, Audrey Natalia, Audrey Noelle, Audrey Josephine, Audrey Sophia, Audrey Olivia, and Audrey Maren.
