Pre-School and Daycare

What activities does your preschooler do?

Besides going to school, what kinds of activities does your preschooler do?  DD has been in swimming, tumbling, and dance, but I am just seeing what others have done.  TIA!

Re: What activities does your preschooler do?

  • She is in gymnastics. She did a dance camp this summer and had done a dance class before gymnastics that didn't work out for her. I asked her if she wanted to go back to dance, and she said, "no," She wanted to be on a soccer team. So I am going to try that this fall.

  • My youngest just finished preschool, but they had extracurriculars I could choose for after school so she did dance, Spanish, and a fun gym-based fitness class.  It meant I could leave her for an extra hour after school & the prices were really reasonable so it was great childcare for me :)

  • My son started up tumbling and may switch to soccer or softball as we get into fall/winter. He just finished up with his summer swim classes and although he's begging to join the 5 year old swim team, I'm trying to hold off for another year.

  • My Gym, and we did swim classes last fall. They'll do them again once a week this year as part of their preschool (which is 3 mornings/week). Plus we had 6-7 therapy appointments per week for one of them last year and will have 3-4 per week this fall so there's not time for much else! (PT, OT, etc.)

  • In the fall, we will do soccer, ballet, and swim lessons.  In the winter, we will take a break from swim lessons and soccer and probably try gymnastics.
  • DS turned four last week-he does gymnastics and we just added soccer. He had swimming lessons but those are over now.

    DD is two-she does gynmastics-

  • Ballet/Tap and swim lessons.

  • She's in daycare/preschool all day.  As part of school, they do Spanish and Ballet weekly.

We've done swimming lessons and go swimming at least once a weekend.

I am debating signing her up for either yoga or gynastics this Fall, but I'm concerned we'll have a lot of conflicts w/ birthday parties too.

  • Besides preschool 5 days/week, we do swimming two evenings each week.  They do enough all week. I can not imagine doing more right now.

  • My DD will be 5 in November.  She has been doing dance and swim lessons for a while now.  We are adding in violin lessons this fall.  She says she wants to do gymnastics after seeing the Olympics, but I'm keeping her in dance because it's cheaper and I am afraid the gyms will be full of little girls this fall.  Oh, and I just bought her tap shoes!

  • My 3 year old goes to daycare/preschool 4 days a week, 8 hours per day, so she's pretty active and hasn't done too many organized activities yet outside of her school, if that's what you mean. She's done ballet - fail. Too young. I'm going to put her in swimming lessons this winter at the Y.

We are pretty active, though, as a family, and I think that's what matters most right now. She goes to the park nearly every day, we go swimming, we go to the zoo. She loves arts and crafts and goes to a little class at the library. Lots of playdates with friends, etc.

  • we were going to take swim lessons over this summer but DD wouldn't even get in the pool for the eval so that was out. She usually loves the pool

  • DD is 3 and will be starting preschool 3 days/wk this fall. Along with that she will play soccer, gymnastics and either swim or a dance class (haven't decided which one yet). This summer she did all of those since she wasn't in school and I wanted to keep her busy.
