Clogged duct-- help before I rip my boob off.

I am EPing with low supply and somehow managed to get a clogged duct despite meticulously emptying every time. It hurts like a b!tch and despite massaging, nothing is happening. Every time I hold DS I want to scream when he bumps up against my chest. Tips? Tricks? He won't nurse so that's not one of my options.

    Hot shower with massage before you pump. When I had mastitis I took a hot bath and leaned that side so it was submerged and massaged. Maybe try that. Less painful than the water hitting your bewb I thought, even though I felt like crying. Keep working at it and keep pumping!

    They hurt like hell! One other suggestion is one I got from KellyMom--take a diaper ad fill it with hot water and use that as a warm compress. It stays warm a lot longer than a cloth. I had a few NBs that she outgrew and the worked perfectly. Pump longer/ more often on that side to try to work it out. Hope it clears soon!!

    Thanks-- going to go stand in the shower and cry while I massage my boob, lol. The worst part is that DS has had awful gas whenever he's taking my breastmilk so it's not like anyone's even grateful for my efforts, bah!

    I know you're EPing but is there anyway you can nurse for a day or two?  Babies are better than any pump and if you angle LO toward the side of the clog, that will help get rid of it quicker when you are massaging and using heat.  I did this when I was EPing and doing so made the clog go away in a day and a half even though kellymom says it can take up to a week.

    Put a piece of green cabbage on the hard part for an hour or so.

    Just don't do this too often or it can really mess with your supply.

    Lurking from Oct but if you have a hand pump put your pump over the lump if possible and use the suction to massage it, then massage with thumb and first finger. If that doesn't work pump and feed on that side as much as possible

    Ditto PP suggestions. Also, vibrations can break up clogs, so if you have an electric or sonic toothbrush, or ahem anything else that vibrates, you can hold that over the clog.

    I think I read that taking lecithin may help, but I'm not sure.

    I just got rid of one that lasted for two days and refused to go away. I went out and bought Lecithin last night and 5 capsules, hot showers, lots of massaging and pumping later.. I finally got rid of it!
