Just wondering how many ladies are having their husbands there, or those going alone... My husband is in the military and this month his work is hard to get away from with a lot always going on this time of yr and for the next couple of months, unless it were an emergency of course, anyway im pretty bummed that he probably wont be able to make it to our ultra sound and find out the sex, he was deployed in another state when i found out with our first, and so it would be awesome for him to experience this time around.
Re: Is your husband able to take off work for the a/s scan and gender reveal?
That sucks that your husband won't be able to make it. Maybe you can think of a cute way to reveal it to him, sort of like your own little gender reveal party?
Yes, DH will be going to the anatomy scan. His company is very flexible and he's able to get the time off no problem.
Can you reschedule it for a day/time that he can make it?
We were spoiled by my pregnancy with DD. DH had two days off using the week so he came (because he wanted to) to every Dr.'s appt and u/s.
He just started a new job that gives him weekends off, so he is going to use flex time to take a half day for our a/s. As for the dr's appts, he wants to flex-time for those too, but I am trying to remind him (1) how boring and repetitive they get and (2) how often they are, later.
Could you do something like have the u/s tech write down the sex and put it in an envelope so you and you DH could open it together?
Mommy to four +1, EDD November 9th!

I was thinking the same thing. This way you guys still have a special moment.
My husband has come to everything with me. He's not in the military though. Maybe someone on the Military Families board might have more experience to share with you.
Otherwise I liked PP idea of having the tech write it down and you two opening it together. That way you still get to share the special moment together.
Both MH and I are lucky enough too, my job is very family oriented.
This is a good idea, they did tell me they could do a video, so that would be neat so that we watch it together and find out the same time

I am a SAHM so I coordinated my appointment to go along with DH's and for our primary babysitters schedule- my MIL.
I love the idea of them writing it down so you and DH can share it when he comes back or even just telling him a special way. I hope he is able to make it.
We can't wait to meet our Blake Katherine!!
My husband will be there, he has come to all of my appointments so far. It's funny when I think of how hard it was to get time off when he was in the Air Force and now that he works for the Federal government he gets plenty of leeway to attend appointments with me (using flex time, of course.)
However, I have been scheduling all my appointments in the morning (as early as possible), so that way he can go to work afterward, and only has to use a half-day.
We just have the "honor system" here about stuff like this: dr's appts, "gotta meet the plumber," sick time, etc... we just take it, it isn't counted, nobody keeps track, as long as you tell your manager in advance and if you are working from home, you stay on top of email, etc.
I'm hoping so. He's self-employed, so it basically depends on what comes up w/ his job. He missed my a/s w/ dd due to the ultrasound being rescheduled, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed that if I give him enough notice, he'll schedule himself appropriately.
But we're not finding out baby's sex.
He now works for homeland security in the fire training division and can be deployed any moment. 1/2 his team is on the east coast right now for Sandy. With the first us he found out a few days before he could go. Cross our fingers he gets to go to this one.
DH and I were gonna do something special when he got home to announce the sex to ourselves. But he decided to have me call him right before the tech tells us what the baby is. Apparently we have no patience:]
If your cant be there. Can you record some of it on your phone? And have the tech write the gender and open that together? Then you still have a special moment and DH can see baby movif about.

Yes DH was able to go to our appt. Not sure he would have listened if they told him no. But his employer has been very flexible. To make it special you can have your US Tech put the US copy of the gender in an envelope and you open it together. But make sure you look away at the time of the tech seeing the gender. Then it is still something you can share and experience together. Good luck with your appt and looking forward to hearing how you reveal to your husband.
Oh no, I hate it for you guys
Mine is military also, and had it been 4 months ago he never would have been able to make it, but we're lucky he started a better schedule and he's getting to.
Can he take a day of leave just to make sure he can be there?
I double checked with H before I made the appointment so he could go.
Sorry your husband will miss it.
My Dh is planning on being there. This is the u/s he likes. He doesn't come to any other appointments unless I specifically ask him too, and I have never really seen the point.
The problem with DH coming to the u/s is that we are on opposite ends when it comes to finding out the gender. DH really really really wants too, and thinks we should because we found out the last 2 times. I on the other hand do not want to know. Not sure if this is our last one or not, but probably is and I want the surprise. We knew with the other 2 and this time I feel like, other then clothes (if it is a by) there is nothing I will need to buy. We have until Friday to decide one way or the other. Hopefully baby won't co-operate anyways.
