GTKY: Your least favorite type of person.

Please don't say me! Ha.  Ok, What I mean is who drives you nuts?  The know it all, show off, the one upper, etc.

Mine is the "Oprah Winfrey"(stay with me) Oprah does a ton of good things for people and she should be commended for that, but she loves to tell people about all the wonderful things she does for people.  Hurricane Sandy has turned all of my friends on FB into Oprah Winfreys.  Drives me crazy.  There is one girl in particular that I am thinking of.  Here are her latest statuses:

Agenda for tonight: Baking cookies for first responders and cleaning out my closet to donate clothes for Sandy victims =.

Just bought 200 books with my own money to donate to Sandy babies.

Just got back from CVS and bought 100 dollars worth of shampoo, deodorant, soap etc. to turn my house into a hotel.  All are welcome.

It drives me crazy! If you want to donate your time and money just do it.  You don't need everyone to know what you've done to have done a good thing.

  • I can't stand it when people boast either, it's just wrong. It's in the bible!!!! James 4:16 "As it is, you boast in your arrogance. All such boasting is evil". Ok enough of my churchy preachiness on that.

My least favorite type of person is the one upper...you caught a fish, there's was 10lbs bigger. Drives me insane, I actually had a lady try to one up me on a tragedy. This was years ago but we were at my moms house just sitting around talking and somehow the topic of my son came up (he was stillborn at full term). She literally interrupted my story to tell me about her miscarriage at 6 weeks. And would not shut up about it going on about how she was on zanax for a year and had to go to rehab and just would not stop. Honestly from the looks of her im sure she was on pills before all that though.

  • ohhh I have another one!  The your story is mine person.  My bil and mil do this.  I love them, but they constantly take my story and tell it like it is their own.  For example: I will say Lo went to the doctor today and he was so funny he kept turning over on the table.  They will then say to another person in front of me, "Oh it was hilarious Liam went to the doctor today and kept turning on the table!"  It makes me crazy.  They say it as if they were there.  Maybe it is stupid, but it would make me feel better if they said, "Oh meghan said Liam was so funny at the doctor...."

  • It drives me nuts when people tell stories that involve me and way over exaggerate. We went out after work a handful of times and drank a couple of beers and it turns into we went out every night and got wasted or it took us ten minutes to find the car and it turns into it took two hours to find the car. I have two friends that do this and it drives me insane. I basically never believe anything they say now . I tell it how it is.

The one upper is a huge one for me.  The other one I hate is the excuse maker/liar.

My husband has a coworker and a wife that we often (before the baby) would go out with. Every year the company throws a Christmas Party.  We asked if they were going last year. Instead of saying they have other plans they say... C (wife) had surgery and she feels like she lost so much time this year (whaaat?), then - C doesn't feel like dressing up, then- it's my uncle's birthday, then - we have a party to go to. REALLY?  Just say you don't want to go.  This particular couple has lied about things before and we have caught them, so our friendship is basically non-existant at this point.

Oh and the reason we think they didn't want to go to the party...there was no one "cool" to sit with. Obvs. we weren't cool enough.

this reminds me of my friend that always replies maybe to things in hopes a better invite will come along.

  • The negative nancy: AKA My mother.

No matter what, no matter how great news you may have she will have something negative to say about it. Example: Hey mom were going on vacation in July to the mountains. Mom: Must be nice...bleh bleah yah yah. Then go on to *** about something in her life.

I just want to be like yeah it is nice, we worked hard for it.

Mine is kind of like a 2 in 1.  The Fun Hater that always says no or it has it be my way.  One of our closest friends' wife does this all the time and about stupid stuff.  If it's not her choice, she will not do or if she does she will be crabby the whole time.  And she never drinks so we don't get her to relax ever.  We go on trips every other year with her and the excursions that we do are pretty much up to her because she won't go if she's not interested and therefore her husband isn't allowed either.  I missed out on Ziplinning in Puerta Vallarta (sp) because she didn't want to.

I have a friend like this, except she backs out of plans at the last minute all the time. I can never depend on her to show up to anything. I completely stopped making plans with her because of it. Every time she asks me to do something I just say no because I know 10 minutes before im supposed to meet her "something will come up" and she'll back out.

That is my mom, too.  She can never ever just be happy for someone else, I have no idea why.

I also can't STAND people who have the have the last word.  My sister will not give up on anything, literally anything, until she's had the last word.  It drives me f-ing BSC and makes me not want to be around her ever.  It doens't even matter who she's talking to or what the subject is.

And along the same lines, people who take offense to terms/names that don't apply to them.  This is my sister, also.  My husband once called homeless people (the kind that hang out on the streets, you know the kind) "bums" and my sister, who is by no means homeless, got soooo offended and went on and on and on and on about it.  Like STFU, no one cares!!

  • I really can't stand hypocrites and people that are mean for no reason, you know bully types. It all goes back to high school, and 12 years later I'm still unhappy about it.

Even a minor event in the life of a child is an event of that child's world and thus a world event.

  • People who talk endlessly but never listen.  And one-uppers.
  • Haha to the Oprah Winfrey! My MIL is like that. When she visits she cleans out entire house, but I'd rather her not even do it because I have to hear about it the entire time! I'll even have random family members (aunts, uncles, cousins) commenting on FB that it must be nice that MIL did my laundry, or vaccumed the stairs or whatever. It really is annoying!

However, my least favorite type of person would have to be judgemental people/ stereotypers. I know we are all guilty of judging and stereotyping to some extent, but some people go way overboard with it. For example, my cousin/coworker. She judges EVERYBODY. If you live in a certain neighborhood, you're a snob. If you live in another certain neighborhood, you're trashy. If you wear a certain brand of jeans, you are a horrible person. Whatever it may be that you choose to do, it puts you in some specific category of people according to her. It is so annoying. Especially considering she claims to hate judgemental people...Pot, meet Kettle.

OH this too! This might actually beat out my original choice. This is my MIL all the way. She knows everything about, well, everything! And she usually isn't even right!

  • I'll go with fair weather friend as well, but the type who disappears from your life for like, months, then suddenly pops up wanting you to do something for them.  I also hate backstabbers, especially at work, and people who think they are entitled to something just because they have been around work the longest.  Its a promotion based on merit, not your time sheet.

  • Mine's the Party Animal. It's irritating to see grown people trying to sniff around for a house party, or try to hold one all the time. I used to go to house parties, but then I turned 20 and they were boring. These people are in their 30's - 40's and sometimes even their 50's. I don't really see what the appeal of getting stupid drunk every weekend is. It's doubly annoying when they're parents. You're going to get a sitter just so you can drink your face off at someone's house? Lame.

I also hate when couples, that live together, post "I love you" to each other on FB. If you are married and live together, isn't it more meaningful to say in person, or how about text it to each other? No, it's because they want everyone to see how much they love each other. Attention-getters. Ugh

I also hate it when people make a lovey dovey status that isn't really necessary. I understand a post like "I'm so appreciate of my husband, what a great man!" every once in a while. But I have some friends that have a status like this everyday

"Babybunnyloveboo just did the dishes...luv him 4eva...holding his hand right now...kisses for him...goin to snuggle with hunnyluvr rite now...cellz on...text me laterzzz."

I combined a few other FB pet peeves in there with the text speak and the ....

    But you get the idea!

    LMAO!
