    How old are you? 29

The kiddo due in April is #_2__  (out of a total of  __3_) for me. We plan to have 1 more after this.

Conceiving this child was easy/hard/a surprise/whatever.  Tell us the story.

My son was turning 2 in August I wanted to have kids two years apart so we got pregnant in January this year and I was due 10/26, I MMC at 9wks0 days and had a D&C and waited 3 months and was pregnant again on the first try! Now I'm due 4/10/13, currently 18wks0days today. Overall conceiving has never been hard, however having had the pregnancy not stick last time was tough because sometimes you never expect that to happen to you. Then you find out its actually common, more than I'd ever imagine.

Tell us about your spouse and/or support people.

My Husband I met in college and have been married for 3 1/2 years now.

    Where do you live? California

What do you do with your day? I work in a Human Resources office for a large Healthcare Organization

What is your biggest fear or concern about your life when the baby comes? No fears, I can't wait for a 4th family member.

What are you super excited about? Giving my child a sibling and knowing god is blessing me with the gift of bearing a child all over again.

Finally, tell us something super random about you.  Super power?  Secret gift?  Crazy phobia?

The kiddo due in April is #_1__  first for us.

Conceiving this child was easy/hard/a surprise/whatever.  Tell us the story.

It was a surprise to us. I went off of BCPs in December with hopes of trying sometime this year. We had talked about starting to try in the late summer/fall so we decided to stop using condoms as well in July. In August I started to track my cycles and the first month of temping, I got pregnant. Such a blessing!

Tell us about your spouse and/or support people.

My husband is amazing, he's so excited as is the rest of our family. My BIL and SIL on my husband's side are also expecting in February so we're very excited!

    Where do you live?

    Upstate, NY.

What do you do with your day?

Work, 8:30-5... come home, eat dinner and hang out on the couch with DH.

What is your biggest fear or concern about your life when the baby comes?

I'm set on my routines so naturally, I'm scared of change. I'm also scared of BFing. I want to so badly, but I am scared I won't be able to.

What are you super excited about?

Being a mom. Feeling the unconditional love for someone that comes with being a mom. I'm excited to stare into the eyes of a baby that is half me half DH.. to see us both in a human being that God created... just amazing. I'm also excited to see DH be a dad.

Finally, tell us something super random about you.  Super power?  Secret gift?  Crazy phobia?

Super random.... Hmmm.... I'm crazy scared of the Exorcist movie and anything to do with demon possession. Like sometimes freak myself out when I think about Linda Blair and all that craziness that happened in the movie.

  • My name is...Samantha, but only if I'm in trouble. Otherwise, call me Sam

How old are you? 24 years young. I'll be 25 about 2 weeks after my due date

The kiddo due in April is #1 for me.

Conceiving this child was surprisingly easy. I have PCOS and was told that my chances of conceiving without fertility meds (clomid, at the very least) would be slim to none. My husband and I decided that I would go off of my bc in March and see what happens. Apparently, my Dr. was wrong. I went in on August 22nd for a surgical consult about removing some kidney stones that are too big to be able to pass and, when I told her about the "gallstone removal complications" I was having (oops, I'm an idiot), she gave me a urine test and told me I was pregnant.

Tell us about your spouse and/or support people. My husband's name is Jeff. He just turned 26. He's an EMT. He was one of my best friends all through high school and we started dating when I was 16. We were married almost 2 years ago.

Where do you live? We live in a little suburb of Detroit called Farmington Hills.

What do you do with your day? I'm a bank teller.

What is your biggest fear or concern about your life when the baby comes? Money for daycare. My grandma is retired and said she would watch the baby during the day. Of course, a few weeks ago, she found out that the people she sold her campground to on land contract are defaulting on the contract and she's getting it back. She'll have to go back up to run her campground late next spring if she's not able to sell it before then. That's 4 hours north of us. :(

What are you super excited about? Everything else!

Finally, tell us something super random about you.  Super power?  Secret gift?  Crazy phobia? I'm obsessed with my Golden Retriever. Also, a huge pet peeve of mine is when someone leaves the cap off/open on the shampoo bottle.

The kiddo due in April is # 3 (out of a total of 3) for me.

Conceiving this child was relatively simple

Tell us about your spouse and/or support people. DH and I have been married for 6 years. He's a college hockey ref and architectural draftsmen. He is loyal, persistent and absolutely in love with me [he has to be to put up with me on bad days].

Where do you live? St. Paul MN suburb.

What do you do with your day? I work FT DT Minneapolis and just short of FT operating my wedding and family photography business.

What is your biggest fear or concern about your life when the baby comes? That I won't be able to make it doing photography and I'll never be able to realize my dream of being a SAHM.

What are you super excited about? My brother's wedding next week.

Finally, tell us something super random about you.  Super power?  Secret gift?  Crazy phobia? I played high school and college soccer, was captain of my college team and was nicknamed "The Beast."

The kiddo due in April is # 1!!!!

Conceiving this child was easy/hard/a surprise/whatever.  Tell us the story.

Easy. My husband and I decided to start trying while on our anniversary at the beginning of July. I had been tracking for 4 months but we conceived the first try (which was fortunate because I'm a teacher and wanted it planned to flow into summer vacation)

Tell us about your spouse and/or support people.

I'll have been with my husband, Kevin, 10 years on our due date! He is the most amazing, compassionate, and caring husband anyone could ever ask for. He's an engineer, a problem-solver, and he can build anything that can be conceived of. He is so good to me and will be such an awesome dad.

    Where do you live?

    Connecticut.

What do you do with your day?

I'm a teacher. I spend the day teaching high school students.  When not at work, we sail, read, spend time with family etc. I'm always with my husband.

What is your biggest fear or concern about your life when the baby comes?

    I'm worried about finances.

What are you super excited about?

Seeing my husband become a father. Obviously finally holding, loving, and caring for my first little one is incredibly exciting!

Finally, tell us something super random about you.  Super power?  Secret gift?  Crazy phobia?

I have freckles and there is a series of freckles on my wrist shaped like a dog. I'm ridiculously scared of crickets.

ETA: Honestly folks, what do you think people will do with your name? Especially just your first name - but your last doesn't matter either. People can get your name anywhere - everywhere - what will an internet stranger do with it? I just never understood this irrational fear.

The kiddo due in April is #_2__  (out of a total of  _2__) for me.

Conceiving this child was easy/hard/a surprise/whatever.  A surprise!  We had a hard time getting pregnant the first time (was on clomid, femara, did the HSG test, etc.) and did not expect to get pregnant my second cycle after DS was born - especially on day 21 of the cycle...guess NFP doesn't work so well unless you do all the monitoring.  Whoops.

Tell us about your spouse and/or support people.  DH was awesome during labor with our first - kept quiet, supported, and did whatever I asked without getting upset when I was cranky.  I couldn't ask for a better support person or dad.  I love watching him play with DS!!

Where do you live?  Minneapolis, MN

What do you do with your day? I'm a lawyer.

What is your biggest fear or concern about your life when the baby comes? Managing 2 kids under age 2 and finding daycare to fill the gap for baby #2, since our DCP won't have an infant opening until DS turns 2 in October.

What are you super excited about?  Getting to meet him/her and see his/her little personality develop.

Finally, tell us something super random about you.  Super power?  Secret gift?  Crazy phobia? Someday I want to write a novel...now I just need to figure out when I'm going to have time for that.  :)

Now that we've all been here a while, I'd love for an advanced "getting to know you".  Please answer all or any of the questions below.  (I know a lot of this has been covered over the past few months, but I'm just now starting to really remember folks.)

My name is libfish825 (another name too unique to share!)

    I'm 25 years old.

This baby is #2 and we are leaning toward it being our last.

We had been lazily "trying" for a few months and got a positive test right before I was planning to get serious about things! With DD, we got pg two months after getting married. We are really thankful for how easy it's been.

Support n?mero uno is my DH. We started dating in high school, stayed together while going to college four hours apart, and got married two months after graduation. Now married for three years and honestly loving every day of my life with my great family.  DH fancies himself a "girl daddy" and worries a LOT that we won't be interesting enough or a boy. (I disagree.)

    We live in southern Indiana.

I am a SAHM to DD and I'm in the midst of working on a MS in library science. Once I'm done, DH and I plan to swap roles so he can be a SAHD while I work (at least part-time).

So far, my only source of worry is finding a way to give enough time to both kiddos. We are very hands-on and interactive with DD and I hate feeling like LO #2 will get less of that.

Most excited about a feeling of completeness and not wondering hat baby stuff I need to hang on to!

No super powers. Normal gifts and phobias. I have an ultimate dream job of writing professional reviews of children's/young adult books.

Yeah. It's way too soon to reveal my super powers to y'all...

  • My name is Skoogirl :)

    I'm 33.

Kiddo due in April is #2 for us

Conceiving this kiddo was surprisingly easy (gratefully).  Last time it took 2 months, this time apparently right after going off birth control.  The u/s said we conceived basically just days after pulling the defense.

MH is an amazing husband, dad, and chef.  I love him.  We are equal partners in life and in parenting.  He's very laidback which helps balance me.

    We live in Baltimore.

I work during the day Mon-Fri.

Beyond the health of the baby, I worry mostly about our budget/money.  I am worried that with two in daycare our budget will be very tight and there won't be much room for saving.

I'm super excited about the possibility of a girl, but would also love another little boy.  I try not to get my hopes up too high so that I won't be dissapointed (and then feel guilty about feeling that way).

I don't have any super powers, but random thought is that I love olives.  I can sit and eat a whole jar in one sitting.  DS loves them too and steals them from me.  I'm not sure if I love that he loves olives like mommy or wish I could have them all to myself.

After our three losses, we started down the adoption route. We were very excited and even got picked by a birth mom! She was due in just a few short weeks. She had not had good prenatal care at all up to that point and we urged her to get an ultrasound before baby was born just to make sure everything was okay before the birth. At 37 weeks they found out the baby was a girl, and that she had a fatal brain abnormality. We were shocked and devastated. We were there for her birth and spent two weeks in the hospital after birth mom left. We got to name her and love on her and it was incredibly hard but also wonderful! In the midst of all of this, we learned we were pregnant. This was NOT in our plan and it took weeks and weeks to sink in, but it finally did, and here we are!

Being on the loss boards with you, I somehow missed this adoption story. You just continue to amaze me in your strength.

The kiddo due in April is #2 (out of a total of hopefully 4) for me.

Conceiving this child was easy/hard/a surprise/whatever.  Tell us the story. Not really difficult but it took us 3ish cycles. I had just weaned from EP'ing and still hadn't had a PP period when we started trying. My cycles took a little while to stop being so wonky. I got my BFP on DD's 8 month birthday.

Tell us about your spouse and/or support people. My DH is awesome. We've been married almost 3 years. He's a college football coach so right now is busy, busy for him, but the beauty of it is that he gets summers off!

Where do you live? Western Wisconsin, just outside the Twin Cities.

What do you do with your day? I'm a SAHM, so my 11-month old keeps me plenty busy! Beyond that, I do a lot of "team mom" type stuff with DH's team and some volunteering.

What is your biggest fear or concern about your life when the baby comes? Just adjusting to having two little ones, especially since DD will only be 16 months old.

What are you super excited about?
Finding out boy or girl at birth, sharing the amazing experience of a bringing a child into this world with DH again.

Finally, tell us something super random about you.  Super power?  Secret gift?  Crazy phobia? Oh goodness, I was a college golfer. DH still won't play with me because I absolutely beat the pants off of him every time.

Conceiving this child was An interesting process. After trying for 6 months last year, my BFP resulted in a m/c. We decided to wait a while before trying again and it took about 6 months for us again this time.

Tell us about your spouse and/or support people. DH is amazing. He works his butt of so that I can be a SAHM and I love him for that. Both of our families are local so we have close relationships with both sides, which is nice.

Where do you live? Southern California.

What do you do with your day? I'm a SAHM, and I'm on "limited activity" so I rest a lot when DD is in school. I lurk on here all day erryday. ;)

What is your biggest fear or concern about your life when the baby comes? That I won't be able to BF. This is really important to me and I'm afraid I won't last.

What are you super excited about? Watching DH with his son. He is so excited.

Finally, tell us something super random about you.  Super power?  Secret gift?  Crazy phobia? I'm deathly afraid of moths. Eeeeeek!

    Start with:  my name is...Jessica

How old are you? 27 years old

The kiddo due in April is #1  for me.

Conceiving this child was easy/hard/a surprise/whatever.  Tell us the story. This baby was a complete surprise. I've been taking the pill for about 5 years now and for the 1st time EVER, I forgot to start taking it after my last period. I forgot it for 8 days! Once I realized I had forgotten it for that long, we used alternate protection, but it was too late. We are excited, but were planning to wait a couple of years.

Tell us about your spouse and/or support people. My husband is 33 and he is currently in school full-time. (the main reason we were going to wait to have a baby!) We've been together for 3 1/2 years and married for 1. He will be such a great daddy! :)

Where do you live? We live in South Carolina.

What do you do with your day? I am a Kindergarten teacher.

What is your biggest fear or concern about your life when the baby comes? I'm terrified we won't be able to afford all the things we need. We were planning to wait for my husband to get his degree and a steady job, but now we're going to be trying to do everything on a teacher's salary. Yikes!

What are you super excited about? I am so excited about being able to watch my baby grow and learn each day. I can't wait see what he/she looks like, too!

Finally, tell us something super random about you.  Super power?  Secret gift?  Crazy phobia? SERIOUS phobia of roaches...so much that it pained me to type that word. If one is in the house, I will seriously cry and hyperventilate. I have nightmares about them and completely irrational thoughts/fears when it comes to them. When I was in college, I once had a boyfriend drive an hour to my apartment to kill a roach that had gotten into the eye of my stove. I stood guard (at a distance) with spray for the entire hour to make sure it didn't escape (or I would have never slept again). He had to disassemble the stove to get it. He must have really loved me!

The kiddo due in April is #2 & #3.

Conceiving this child was easy/hard/a surprise/whatever.  Tell us the story. We did IVF. A bit easier than it was with DS, but that was because we knew what would work and we had already been through the shock of finding out something was wrong.

Tell us about your spouse and/or support people. DH is 30, is a very hard worker, and a great daddy! I think he is the most handsome guy I have ever seen and I love him very much.

    Where do you live? Utah

What do you do with your day? I am a stay at home mom so I spend a lot of time playing with DS. I also play the piano, sew, read, and scrapbook.

What is your biggest fear or concern about your life when the baby comes? I don't really have any fears, I am just nervous about the sleep deprivation because DS started sleeping through the night at six weeks which did not prepare us well for twin newborns.

What are you super excited about? Everything. I loved the newborn stage, and I am excited to have 3 little ones.

Finally, tell us something super random about you.  Super power?  Secret gift?  Crazy phobia? I should have grown out of this by now, but I am absolutely horrified of the dark. The kiddo due in April is #2  (out of a total of  2 so far) for me.Conceiving this child was easy/hard/a surprise/whatever.  Tell us the story. It was actually easy, which was a surprise. It took us 6 months (not that bad) to conceive Ava, so I expected something similar this time around. We got pg the first cycle trying and I was really surprised. Tell us about your spouse and/or support people. My H is awesome. He's a huge help with Ava, works really hard at his job (he's a real estate developer and really, actually builds good, solid homes with green amenities just because he wants to). When he's in the middle of a project, he's not home much but helps out when he is. When he's not in a project (like for the first 4 months Ava was here), he's around 24/7 and helps out accordingly. He's also such a good, understanding, loving and mild-mannered husband who always takes the time to make me feel appreciated.  Where do you live? Suburb just outside of ChicagoWhat do you do with your day? I'm a SAHM so my day revolves around taking care of Ava and our Springer Spaniel dog. I have a lot of good friends here and in the city, so we're pretty much always on the go with playdates/zoos/museums. What is your biggest fear or concern about your life when the baby comes? I'm really nervous to juggle two kids. Ava is very needy and going through the terrible twos so I'm worried about her adjusting. Also, Ava was a colicky baby and would scream for 10-12 hours a day which literally almost drove me insane. Most of my fears revolve around handling the two of them without losing my cool.

What are you super excited about? I'm excited to enlarge our family and have a new little person to love. I'm excited for Ava to have a sister (although I don't expect her to appreciate it until she's much older).

Finally, tell us something super random about you.  Super power?  Secret gift?  Crazy phobia?  Huh, random. Ok, when I was a senior in high school I was on a CNN special called "Listening after Littleton" after the school shooting. They choose our town and high school based on similar demographics to Littleton. There were a whole panel of us with our parents and we just talked about high school kids and high school experiences.

    I am 31

The kiddo due in April is #_1__ (out of a total of _0_) for me.

Conceiving this child was hard.  We had been trying for 11 months (not as long as others, I know) and during those 11 months, we used OPK's, temped, charted, and had some pretty good timing every cycle.  During the process, we discovered MH had elevated prolactin and low motility.  We were already well aware of my PCOS and irregular cycles. We were on the verge of having to start clomid when, bam! unexpected +!!  Neither of us had hope in that cycle and the only reason why I took an HPT was because I had 50 cheap ones just lying around.

MH is so awesome!!  He was extremely supportive and was a great comfort when I cried after every disappointing cycle.  He is so excited for this baby too!  He is a Laboratory Medical Scientist (I think that's the official title).  He works in the lab at a hopsital =)

We live outside of Wichita, KS

I currently go to school, finishing up a bachelor's in business management and I also work for a non-profit doing the bookkeeping for them.  My free time is spent keeping my dog entertained

I am scared that MH and I will become distant with each other when the baby is here and I hope that we stay close like we are now without just becoming two people living together taking care of our baby.

Being a mom!!  I am just so excited about getting to hold our baby and seeing MH holding our baby

I used to go trick or treating at Garth Brooks' mom's house when I was younger.  She gave out caramel apples =)

I got super lucky with them.  Actually, super blessed. Where do you live? Virginia BeachWhat do you do with your day? I'm in the process of starting my own company on Etsy making handmade items, mostly blankets right now. What is your biggest fear or concern about your life when the baby comes? Sleep. I need a lot of sleep to function!

What are you super excited about? Being a mother.  Hearing my daughter call me mom for the first time.  Watching her grow up.  Singing to her.  Rocking her in my arms.  Just all of it...just being a mother! Finally, tell us something super random about you.  Super power?  Secret gift?  Crazy phobia? I hate those Oompa Loompas from the movie Willy Wonka.  I don't like typing their name.  They seriously freak me out.
One of my best friends ("B") offered to be our surrogate, and we're now expecting a baby in April 2013 after two cycles of natural IUI at the Jones Institute. For medical reasons, we are not biologically related to our unborn child. Yes, I guess that makes this a "planned adoption."

The kiddo due in April is #1  (out of a total of 2/3?) for me. Conceiving this child was easy/hard/a surprise/whatever.  Tell us the story.  Started TTC in February and got a BFP on our first cycle. Baby was sticky, but in the wrong place! We waited 2 months after the ectopic per dr's orders, then decided to wait 1 more month for personal reasons (timing baby better for the end of the school year). Conceived this baby on the first cycle again. Tell us about your spouse and/or support people. My husband and I have been together for 5 years (dated 5 months, engaged for over a year and a half, married for 3). We were very close friends before dating and made the jump from friends to spouses very quickly and easily. DH is great and very supportive! His job, which includes a long commute, has made things a little difficult for him lately (combined with my crazy hormones) and he has decided to start searching for work closer to home. I am so happy he will be home more when baby comes if all goes well with the job hunt (no more hour and a half to 2 hour commute each way). Where do you live? In Washington, about 30 minutes north of Seattle (without traffic, up to two hours with traffic! grrr!) What do you do with your day? I'm a learning support teacher. I work with students with learning disabilities and those who are significantly behind grade level in reading. Love my job but it makes for one tired pregnant lady every night! What is your biggest fear or concern about your life when the baby comes? Breastfeeding! I am so worried I won't be able to BF for some reason and have to use formula. Also, sleep! I am missing my normal 8-9 hours already.
What are you super excited about? Watching DH become a father! Seeing our LO grow up. Being able to teach my own child the love of learning. Finally, tell us something super random about you.  Super power?  Secret gift?  Crazy phobia? Feet! Yuck! Saw someone else say that too which made me feel like less of a weirdo. I have an incredible memory usually and consider myself to be very smart. Being Pg has ruined that though and it is driving me crazy!

Aw thank you so much for that! That's the first time I shared it on this board, but did on the PGAL board awhile back. We were reeling from the whole thing and it has taken me quite awhile to sink into this pregnancy business so it feels good to open up a bit!

I am loving getting to know you all a bit better!

The kiddo due in April is #__1_ (out of a total of __1_) for me.

Conceiving this child was easy/hard/a surprise/whatever. H and I got married June 1, we had planned to wait to start trying until the fall. I went off the pill after the wedding and started temping just to see what my cycle's looked like. Anyways, July rolled around and we decided to stop using protection. Found out 4 days before my period was due that I was pregnant. I anticipated it taking much longer as I've seen many people struggle but we were VERY lucky!

Tell us about your spouse and/or support people. My H is seriously the man of my dreams. He's quiet and calm and nothing bothers him. He's very handsome and sweet (but in a practical way, not in a flowers and chocolate way). He's the perfect balance for me and I seriously feel (most days) like the luckiest woman in the world (ya, I'm full of cheese theses days). My dad and step mom are a big part of our lives, live around the corner and offer us tons of support. H's mom and my mom both have their issues but they're working on it. We have tons of amazing kids in our lives (7 awesome nieces and nephews so far) who definitely contributed to us not wanting to wait much longer :) We're also blessed with a TON of amazing friends.

Where do you live? Ontario, Canada (North of Toronto)

What do you do with your day? I work as a Social Worker at a child welfare agency.

What is your biggest fear or concern about your life when the baby comes? I'm terrified of PPD, I'm nervous about not sleeping and that the baby won't bond with me.

What are you super excited about? I'm excited for that baby smell, for introducing the little one to our dog, to be able to have a year off of work just for quality time with my little prince or princess.

Finally, tell us something super random about you. Super power? Secret gift? Crazy phobia? As PP mentionned, I am one of those people who are obsessed with their dog. He's a golden retriever and the sweetest animal. I couldn't imagine our family without him.

I have borderline road rage at times and am terrified in the car when I'm not driving (I've been in a lot of accidents and NONE with me driving).

I like to think I'm crafty and try and do things myself instead of buying them i.e. baking cakes, making greeting cards, painting. Unfortunately, I'm also a perfectionist, so none of my creations live up to my expectations.

Conceiving this child was easy/hard/a surprise/whatever.  Tell us the story.

I was pregnant in January and found out at the NT sono that the baby had a terrible terrible Trisomy. MH and I had to make the hardest decision in the world to either wait to miscarry or have a D&C.  The baby wasn't going to make it and if it did it would not have survived. I had the D&C which was the worst day of my life. That was in March. Got my BFP in August and couldn't be happier (or more nervous)!

Tell us about your spouse and/or support people. My hubby and I have been together for 8 years and we just celebrated out 2nd wedding anniversary on Monday. He is sweet and caring. The type of guy that makes me coffee in am and wakes me up in middle of the night when the first snow comes! We both come from crazy big families and most of them live within an hour away! OY!

Where do you live? Long Island, NY

What do you do with your day? Work and shop online!

What is your biggest fear or concern about your life when the baby comes? Im that person that needs 8 hours of sleep to be normal and pleasant. This should be interesting!

What are you super excited about?  Chubby cheeks and cute little hineys! The whole thing! I love babies and can't wait to start our family!

Finally, tell us something super random about you.  Super power?  Secret gift?  Crazy phobia?  No super powers although I would really love to learn how to knit or crochet in the near future!

The kiddo due in April is #2 out of a total of 2 for me. But we may have a 3rd, if that's what this q meant.

Conceiving this child was a surprise of sorts.  We knew we wanted a 2nd, and were in the NTNA phase.  It just happened way faster than we expected, considering we were still leaning towards the not trying side until later in the year, and it took 6 months of actively trying with DD1.

MH is also 34, been married for 3.5 years, but met in college & dated for 10 years before a 2 year engagement.  We moved in together (I moved cross country for him) a week before we got engaged.  My younger sis also lives nearby and is a great friend & aunt.  My in-laws also live here now part time - its great having family nearby, considering the rest of our family is not here, and all our close friends are spread out around the country.  Its been hard to make new friends as an adult in a southern city, particularly when you are a Yankee (from CT).

We currently live in Atlanta.  Previously lived in San Francisco and Washington DC together.  I grew up in New England, MH was a military brat and grew up mostly outside of DC, but spent his high school & early college years in South Korea, Germany & Spain.

I work FT, professional office job in a finance communications field.  Really enjoy my career, company, boss and the people I work with.  Still get an hour with DD in the morning while we ready/drive to daycare; another 1-2 hours in the evening between pickup and bedtime.

What is your biggest fear or concern about your life when the baby comes?  I already feel like I've given up a lot with dd (no more personal time, it feels), and not having her until I was 33 meant I was very used to my personal/spouse time.  It was very hard giving up the gym and other personal time, or going out for dinner/drinks every weekend night.  I'm hoping as she/new LO get older and don't go to bed so early/won't need me as much, I'll be able to work some more of that back into my life.

What are you super excited about?  A sibling for DD!  Kinda hoping for a boy, but remain firmly Team Green again, and having a sister myself, I know how awesome that could be for DD.

I love the beach, snowboarding, wine, and silly high school tv shows (ie, Vampire Diaries, 90210, Glee).  The first 2 are pretty hard to come by here in Georgia. Sad

The kiddo due in April is #1  (out of a total of 2) for me.

Conceiving this child was easy/hard/a surprise/whatever.  Tell us the story. DH and I got married in May and bought our house in June. Then July came, and SURPISE! I got pregnant with our LO.

Tell us about your spouse and/or support people. DH is my rock. I don't know how I would ever have gotten through this pregnancy so far without him. I was a trainwreck through my first trimester; I don't know how he put up with me. My favorite thing about him is that I rarely have to ask for something. When I get a migraine, he brings me an ice pack for my head. When say I'm cold, he wraps me in blankets. When I am nauseous, he gets me ginger ale and crackers. He has been fantastic.

Where do you live? We live in a small town about 45 minutes northwest of Philly.

What do you do with your day? I spend most of my days sleeping. I'm an RN; I work nights on the orthopedic unit at a hospital.

What is your biggest fear or concern about your life when the baby comes? I don't know how I'm going to cope with the sleep deprivation. I am one of those people that literally cannot function with less than 6 hours of sleep, especially since I work such long shifts. I'll be with the baby all day while DH works, and DH will be with the baby all night while I work. I can't see this arrangement lasting for more than a few weeks before we both lose it. I just applied for a position in the ICU in my hospital which is weekends-only, and I'm praying they give it to me!

What are you super excited about? Everything. I am so excited to be a mom. I most often find myself daydreaming about the holidays (probably because it's that time of year)! I can't wait for moments like carving pumpkins, trick-or-treating, decorating the Christmas tree, sitting by the fire with a cup of hot chocolate, baking holiday cookies, Easter egg hunts, etc. etc.

Finally, tell us something super random about you.  Super power?  Secret gift?  Crazy phobia? How about a crazy obsession? I cannot get enough of Harry Potter. I have probably read the series a dozen times. My best friend shares my obsession, so last September, we flew to Florida for five days and spent basically our entire trip at the Wizarding World of Harry Potter. I'm also dying to do a Harry Potter themed nursery for LO, but unfortunately, DH is not convinced. I'm hoping he'll come around :)

How old are you? 29 yrs.

The kiddo due in April is #2  (and this will be our last)

A surprise!  I can't take BCPs and DH and I got totally irresponsible and just figured we'd leave it up to God.  We were tired of preventing -- because how lame is it when you're 29 and 31 and have been married for 8 years to have to stop amidst the throws of passion to get a condom? -- and we couldn't figure out if we should have a second or leave it at one or adopt a child so we, like I said, left it up to God.  Then I end up pregnant which is awesome but also weird given that it took FOREVER to conceive our son.

My husband is my best friend; he's my person and we've been friends/together for 16 years and married for 8 years.  He's an Army Veteran and currently works in a mental health facility with youth.  He is the most generous man alive and also the most caring -- he will literally give the clothes off his back and the food off his plate to a stranger (has done both of those things more than once).  He is an amazing father.

I currently live in Champaign, IL -- Go Illini! (I don't actually follow Univ. of IL sports and I didn't go to that school but everyone always comments on the Illini when they find out where I live.)  I am from the NW suburbs of Chicago and hope to move back there very, very soon.

What do you do with your day?  I am a Juvenile Detention Officer so I spend my days with the teenagers that no one wants in the community.  It's a really cool job and I almost always love it.  When I'm not at work, I spend as much time as possible with my son who is almost 3 years old.  He is amazing.

What is your biggest fear or concern about your life when the baby comes?  I am afraid that it will upset the relationships we have with our son.  I worry a lot about making this a smooth transition for him.  My second worry is really just that I'm terrified of going with so little sleep again on a regular basis.  My job is one that I need to be alert and observant for, not half asleep.

What are you super excited about?  baby relared?... I am really excited to complete our family and watch my children grow up together.  I love just watching my son sometimes and observing the person he is/is becoming.  I think it will be even more amazing to watch the two of them together.

Finally, tell us something super random about you.  It's gross but it's the first thing that popped in my head:  I can stick my tongue into my nostril.  Gross, I know.  I don't recall how I realized I could do this either.

  • I just turned 40 (although I don't feel or "act 40"- whatever that means- haha!)

The kiddo due in April is # one and done for us.

Conceiving this child was easier than anticipated. I had groomed DH that it may not happen for a year or more, if ever, b/c we waited and were now officially "geriatric" in the world of conception. When I told him after we were trying for 3 months/cycles he nearly passed out! :)

DH is literally the best decision I have ever made and I am so thankful for him coming into my life and grounding me the way he did. We've been together almost 10 years, married 8 1/2. His mom just moved nearby b/c her husband passed this January. My mom is moving here to help w/the baby and start her life over this next March. We feel very lucky to have all the help and support!

    We live in VA.

I manage a team of trainers.

My biggest fear is that I end up having a strong willed child that makes me lose my mind :) Which is likely between DH and I's temperments. :)

I'm just excited about experiencing all of this b/c I wasn't sure I was going to be able to, so I'm not taking anything for granted.

I was born in the UK b/c my father worked for the US Embassy and I had dual citizenship until 18. My mother conveniently "forgot" to tell me this b/c she knew if I knew, I would be a pain in the @$$ and prob declare British citizenship at 18. :)

Hee hee.  I am pretty sure this is what has happened to me : ).  My children are doomed, too, but so far only DS1 has the "difficult to handle" type of strong will.  DS2 is a naturally happy, funny, but still strong willed guy, so he has started testing us but always does it with a smile on his face, unlike DS1 : )!

I just hope and pray I can find the tools and patience to handle this if it should come my way! I think this is the most exhausting part about parenting, besides sleep deprivation- staying consistent w/the discipline and staying on top of them! :)

The kiddo due in April is #1 and out first pregnancy as well!

Conceiving this child was easy/hard/a surprise/whatever.  Tell us the story. Fairly simple.  We have been married almost a year now and we knew we wanted to begin trying in July and let it takes its course.  I began preparing but learning more about fertility and my own cycles leading up to july.  We feel very blessed that we were able to get pregnant on our first cycle.  I was temping and charting prior to july so I knew about when ovulation hit for me!

Tell us about your spouse and/or support people. DH is so great.  I feel so lucky to have him.   We met when I began my job and while we didn't know instantly we would end up spending out lives together I feel so lucky that we did end up connecting!  He get bonus points for putting up with me, I just like to remind him how lucky we BOTH are!

Where do you live? Near Boston!

What do you do with your day? I am active duty Air Force currently and will be separating after baby comes.  The Air Force has been an amazing journey and one that brought my DH out of the experience so I feel blessed each day to have had it.

What is your biggest fear or concern about your life when the baby comes? Making the best decisions for baby and for us as a family.  I feel prepared and i'm so excited but I do get anxious as to whether I will know what is right or wrong.

What are you super excited about? Sharing the experience with our families and becoming a mom!  I can't wait to have a new member of our family.

Finally, tell us something super random about you.  Super power?  Secret gift?  Crazy phobia? I biggest fear is needles, i'm such a baby everytime I have to get a shot, blood drawn etc and get myself so worked up I generally always faint in the process.  I am trying to do my best and I had my first bloodwork for this LO with no tears and I didn't faint!  DH laughed as I walked out with my juice box and sticker!

Tell us about your spouse and/or support people. my husband recently got a medical discharge from the military and due to his condition along with crumbling job market in our area he is a stay at home dad-to-be. and we both have huge familys that are super excited for us

    Where do you live?

just out side of birmingham alabama

What do you do with your day?

i sleep during the day. I'm a night shift xray technologist. on my off days i love to be doing anything out side

What is your biggest fear or concern about your life when the baby comes?

there is a strong possiblity that our child will be born with a hearing problem (chances are higher if its a boy) all due to my lovely genes, which we are fine with i have very little hearing but read lips well enough i dont need hearing aids but i'm terrified that if its born completly def that I will never be able to learn sign language well enough for it to know what in the heck i'm saying. lol. guess not the worst fear to have

What are you super excited about?

finnaly having that gap in our family filled

Finally, tell us something super random about you. Super power? Secret gift? Crazy phobia?  I think I have a pretty cool Super power, since i work in the radiology department and the nights get pretty slow i can see LO on the ultrasound just about any time i want, and the U/S techs will scan me on my off weeks if they arent busy and point out stuff since i really have no idea what it is i'm looking at other than cute baby
