Milk Protein Intolerance ?

This may be considered a ridiculous question, but my son was diagnosed with a milk protein intolerance 2 weeks ago and I am now on a dairy elimination diet due to the fact I am BFing and I was wondering if it was still ok to eat goat cheese and feta cheese since it is considered a cow's milk protein intolerance???

    Some goat's cheeses may be strictly goat milk but some still have cow milk. Some kids w milk protein intolerance are fine w goat milk protein, some are not. Sorry I don't have more of a clear answer for you!

    personally i would avoid all dairy and goat products, including casein and whey... But you may do your own test.  Be free for a month and then add one goat product and see if you're little one reacts.  It also depends what the original symptoms were.. if they were mild discomfort, than go for it. If they were terrible and major pains than i would avoid it and wait until you LO is older to test.

    Thanks for the advice ladies.  I've been on the dairy elimination diet for 2.5 weeks now so maybe I will try it in a month.  I only knew my LO had the allergy due to his stool (streaks of blood and mucous), but he never seemed to have any discomfort.  Thanks again!

    I was told that goat's milk proteins are close enough to cow's milk proteins that it can also cause issues.  Like PP said, it's really trial and error.
