Imagine (deep thoughts/rant)

Imagine what good you could do with all the $ that is spent on all the presidential crap. There should be a cap. I heard some talking head say that last time this chick spent 'x' amount of millions of her own money trying to get elected, and this time she spent $49 million of her own money. How many mouths could that have fed? How many jobs could that have saved? I hate politics.

    I always think about that too and it just makes me want to vomit. I agree that the money could have been better spent elsewhere. I don't know how many political ads I got in the mail that I never looked at and just threw away. Between TV, newspapers, online news, radio news, and everything else I don't need a bunch of junk mail too. It just makes me sick that so many people are hurting right now in this country and these politicians spend all of this money just to try to beat their opponent.

    Think of it this way - that is $49 million that she pumped into the economy that normally would would have been tied up in investments.  A campaign of that size does create jobs and help businesses.  Yes, it probably could have been better spent, but it's not a total waste.

    It's disgusting that you have to be that wealthy in order run run for these higher offices.

    We were talking about this last night at work. If all the candidates had the same amount of money to spend their would be a different outcome of the elections. All the money could be usesd for better things. We wouldn't be so far in debt it you put it towards that, it could be helping feed people, fix the aftermath of sandy....
