For those that had their shower, how many people shopped off your registry? Was it the majority? My shower is tomorrow and I think people are waiting until today to shop but I'm panicking bc not a lot has been bought off our registry and since I'm a FTM I will need to purchase a lot or return a lot. I don't want to sound ungrateful but if I get a lot of clothes I will prob try to return them to get things we need. Is it possible to return without a receipt? Oi......

Re: Shower registry question
Are you on BRU? The last few times I've bought for people, they're system wasn't terribly reliable about updating what was and wasn't purchased, so more may have been bought than you see. Also, I read a post yesterday that said their system was having problems because of the storm and the fact that their server is in NJ. Not sure how accurate that is, though.
Returning without a receipt depends on where you shop. Some places, like Target, will usually give you store credit no problem. I've heard BRU can be trickier if the stuff isn't on your registry. You can always just add the stuff to your registry after its purchased then try to return it for store credit.

My shower was October 20th and I was concerned about that too. My hostesses didn't send out invitations until October 10th and we live several hundred miles from Target and BRU (rural Texas) and as of the 19th about 3 things had been purchased off my registries.
However, my friends and family know how I am about checking things, and they went and bought the things I had placed on my registry, without checking it off my registry. Make sense? They wanted me to be surprised by my gifts. So, I spent the next day filling out Thank You cards and going on line to update my registry...
I got a lot of clothes, and I'm a FTM...however, I'm surrounded by people that have been having babies over the last couple years and I've learned that clothes are a good thing. I've seen my sister dress her daughter and then her daughter have a 'blow-out' before we could get to the car, and yet another one in the car. So, thats 3 outfits in less than 45 min. I've kept everything
i didnt get a single item off my registery! but everything was really cute so we didnt need to do any returns, just went out and bought everything else we needed
The only person that sort of annoyed me was my sister. She knows that we have really different taste (I'm pretty pretty preppy/conservative for clothes and she's much more out there), and bought ELEVEN outfits that she loved... ten of them, I'm returning. For the price of 11 outfits, she could have bought us something useful.
I was quite upset at how many people did not buy off our registry because we are first time parents as well. We got a bunch of clothes and then a few things here and there off our registry. Luckily my in-laws already had bought our crib and dresser for us. My mom and her husband bought us the travel system. I was hoping someone would get us the pack-n-play but nobody did.
I would not stress yourself right now about what people got you. I also do not think you should return a lot of clothes if you get them because from what I've been told babies go through a lot of clothing.
What we did was just go through the clothes and kept what we liked and then returned anything that wasn't our style. I know I did not have a receipt at Target and they still took one of the outfits that we returned I just got a gift card instead of cash back.
I had my shower yesterday and about three people got something off the registry. I agree with what you said here.
Many people bought from our registry or were guided by it, some didn't. It was honestly fun to be surprised by what the registry non-users gave us-- my former boss is a children's lit expert & mother of a little girl, so she had a blast picking out a couple of books & some boy clothes in different age sizes. A friend let her two kids pick out a toy each & those are two of my very favorite gifts received.
And a dear friend included a gift card to my favorite liquor store-- that one had me all sorts of verklempt!
