I'm Not Satisfied

For the past two days or so, no healthy foods sound good. The only things that sound good are candy from Halloween, pretzels with nacho cheese and pretty much any other sugary thing you can think of. I tried eating some carrots with ranch dressing but that made me sick to my stomach. I don't want to gain a lot of weight, but anything healthy I eat makes me feel gross/sick. Help me!!!

  • This probably not what you want to hear...but I'm in the same boat. I have been...lucky, I guess, that throughout my pregnancy sweets have made me nauseous.

    However, for the last week....Kit Kat bars. OMG, I love them, I want to eat them all. They are the only true craving I've had. I strange thing is that, normally, when I'm not pregnant...I don't care for Kit Kat bars. I try to limit myself to have one of the snack/Halloween size after lunch and one when I get home, it doesn't always work though.

    i don't think a little bit of non-healthy food will hurt at this point...just don't buy out the local candy store :-)

    This. Treat yourself, but don't go crazy. Eat your pretzels and cheese, just don't eat a million of them. Just make sure you're squeezing some good sweet stuff in, too, like yogurt or fruit.
  • It might just be a phase your body is going through.  Maybe indulge a few more days and if it doesn't pass then it's time to quit!  You are lucky it's towards the end though, I think there's limits to the amount of damage we could do at this point :) 
  • Add a can of low salt beans to your nacho cheese and dip away with the pretzels. The beans will give you some fiber and protein, maybe iron and will also add some bulk to what you are munching on so you will not be able to eat as much of the not so good stuff.

    We really like piquinto beans or black beans or some of the healthier refried beans.

    Eating fruit like applees works for me if I have been having less sugary options but if you get used to a lot of sugar, or salt being in foods, it is more difficult to go back. In terms of the candies, you can probably off load them at the office or with a neighbor if you do not feel like having the will power to ration them. My own personal rule is drinking a glass of milk with every two chocolaty fun size bars, that way there is something healthy to go with the less healthy.

  • I was told that my desire for the sugar and the salty are mostly due to being dehydrated.  For me, it actually worked.   The more water I've been drinking, the less I'm craving the sweet and salty foods and can eat pretty normal.  It's not as delish but my butt won't be as big either.  :)
