I was making Rosie's list and we are switching her to a big girl bed soon. So I found this nightlight clock thing that will tell her when it's ok to wake. Here is a linky.
We have this one for DS and he has been able to get it since he was 2. When the sheep is asleep, he has to stay in his room...when its up he can come get us.
We have the Gro Clock (https://gro.co.uk/gro-clock), which seems to be about the same thing and I cannot speak highly enough of that thing. One of the best purchases I've ever made.
We got it for DD1's 2nd birthday and it's worked wonders for us. Heck we even set the clock for half an hour later on the weekends and she actually stays in bed. HEAVEN!
Just make sure you follow the instructions (eg: start with an early "alarm" so your kid associates waking up with the "sun" or whatever image the clock shows in the morning; make the clock part of the bed time routine, etc.) - My brother didn't and his clock just turned into an expensive night light.
I will tell you that my mother set up an average, regular, plug-it-in-with-a-cord, (cute) lamb nightlight on my nightstand and told me that I could come wake them up when the "lammie light" went off.
I totally fell for it. I plan to use the same logic (and same light to boot) with my LO.
