How do you drop a bottle?

Pedi told me that DD drinks too much formula - 10 months, approx 26 oz per day. He wants me to start dropping that down over the next 2 months to 8-16 oz per day. How did you do it? She loves water from the sippy cup btw.

Thanks for your advice!

  • Up her solid intake. Not sure if you give her a bottle for a snack but maybe giver her finger foods instead if you do.

  • We gradually increased DD's food intake and weaned her from the formula.  She would get about 3 6oz. bottles a day.  She was getting 4 and we dropped one during the day, we just gave her a bigger lunch or snack.  She was fine with it.  She now gets whole milk, she gets about 2 sippy cups a day of it.  about 10 oz. each she usually drinks most of it.   Once she started the milk in the sippy cup when it was time for her nighttime bottle she sucked it so hard the nipple totally collapsed so that was the end of nighttime bottle, so now it's dinner and then she's done for the night.
  • I'm glad I read your post because I was panicking that my son wasn't getting enough formula (he gets 25-28 oz a day) because he now eats a lot more solids. I wonder why my pedi didn't say anything at his 9 month appointment. I will have to ask again. (sorry I offered no advice to you but you helped me)
