Cramps underneath my bellybutton area

The past three days I have been having these odd 'cramps' under my bellybutton area. They come and go infrequently, but strong enough at times to make me wince. My query is : has anyone else had these and should I be worried? They sometimes feel like they go in a straight line from my bellybutton downwards, and the first day I felt them under my diaphragm.

Re: Cramps underneath my bellybutton area

  • Could just be your uterus growing and stretching.  I had some super painful cramps the last couple of days.  They were insane!  Got an ultrasound this morning and found out that I have fibroids that are growing as my uterus is growing.  They won't harm my baby, but damn it HURTS!  Your cramps sound bearable though.  Sounds normal to me.

  • I agree with pp.  Probably just stretching... I am 5w1d today and although i have had plenty of pulling/pressure/stretching/mild cramping, I felt some more intense cramps today... just took a tylenol and feeling better.  I think its all normal!!!

  • The girls above are right.  I had the same cramping and when I asked my doc about it she said she would be worried if I wasn't having those issues :)

  • Pregnancy has a way of screwing with your gall bladder. Your not far enough for it to be pushed up into your throat like mine is. But I had pain dull at first right behind my belly button, and by the next day I was screaming in pain and in the ER with morphine.

If it gets worse have your gallbladder checked out. But it possibly could be streaching of you ute.

  • Whew! That makes me feel A LOT better, believe me! I was worried it was something very harmful. Interestingly enough, I have large dermoid growths on both sides of my ovaries - and I have noticed they are ridiculously painful right now. I wonder if that has anything to do with it.
