BTDT (moms of 2+): Question

Ladies,

When are you sharing the news with your older LOs?  We told our parents and siblings this weekend and they were surprised when we asked them NOT to talk about LO3 around the kids.

DD1 just turned 4 and I'm not ready for her preschool, dance class, the checker at the grocery store, etc. to know till after Thanksgiving.

Re: BTDT (moms of 2+): Question

  • We're planning on telling him once we are safely in 2nd tri. Like you, we know once we tell him the cat will be out of the bag, so we're going to wait until we're ready for the world to know.

  • He's only 15mo so he doesn't understand. We will be telling my SSs 8 and 10 sometime in the next couple weeks.

  • We have already told our kiddos, DS is 7 and DD is 5. DD spilled the beans for some of our close friends, but it wasn't that big of deal, hopefully! I keep my fx that nothing happens to this little bean.

  • I'm no good at secrets.  My DD already knows mommy is pregnant.  She sees DH give me my progesterone shot every morning.  She's only nearly 3 so if something happens to the pregnancy I'm not concerned she'll be overwhelmed but she needs to know something to know why mommy is so upset.  As a family we don't hide many things.

  • DS is 4 1/2 and has no concept of time so we will probably wait until I am obviously showing to tell him. I don't want him asking me every 3 min "When is the baby coming" and he would. He's all ready seen my cloth diaper stash and asked to wear them. I told him they were for the baby, he wanted to know what baby and I just said The baby and he left it alone.
