I am skipping the flu shot this year, and every year. Call me crazy, but I'd rather take my vitamins, wash my hands, wrap up warmly when it's cold and eat healthy food than take the risk. I don't think there's enough research out there to prove they're 100 safe, especially for pregnant and nursing women.

This is where I am.  We take other measures to stay healthy.

    This. No flu shot here.

Ummm, you guys know dressing "warmly when it's cold" or taking vitamins has nothing to do with getting the flu, right?  It's a virus.  If you live in any kind of suburban/urban area, those "preventions" (other than hand washing) won't do much.

But eating healthy, and I mean healthy, will empower your immune system to fight off such pesky little viruses. Our bodies are already made this way. We are just screwing up our bodies with junk and pollution. Knock on wood, I havent had the flu in a couple of years. I refuse to inject poison into my body or my kids bodies. There is nothing a drug rep can say to brainwash me. And its not like Drs know what they are talking about either when it comes to vaccines. They go off of what they are told by bog pharma. They are Drs not chemists. Just saying. To eachs own.

I...I just...can't. Seriously? You do realize several years of various types of chemistry are part of the pre-med and medical curriculum, right? Doctors may not be chemists, but they still have the background to understand chemistry. And vaccines aren't just chemical, they're biological as well. If doctors don't understand biology, we're all screwed.

It's this kind of uneducated spewing of non-information that results in spreading of incorrect thought processes. Yes, people should make their own INFORMED decisions on whether or not to vaccinate, but to say that doctors have no idea what they're talking about and to imply vaccines are some kind of ploy by big pharma to make more money is ridiculous.

In an ideal situation, everyone would be lucky enough to have a background that helps them understand the mechanics of vaccines or the benefits/hazards of the components, or of any medical recommendation for that matter. Since this isn't the case, this is why there needs to be a level of trust established with your doctor that allows him to help provide you with all the information you need to make an informed decision. If you don't trust your doctor because you think he's in big pharma's pocket, then find yourself another dang doctor. Don't go out onto the internet spouting misinformation.

  • I totally agree with your post! My Dr. said her "professional" advice is to get one however in the end it is my decision. So I too opted out of the flu shot.
