I preface this with: I have no intentions of starting my LO on potty learning till at least the 18 month mark. But I have people looking to buy her Christmas presents and I would like to stick a potty on the list instead of just toys and clothes. Any recommendations?
Re: Potty recommendations
This is always my vote -- the stand alone potties are good, but I'd much rather LO go straight into the toilet 1) they don't fear the toilet later on and there's no transition 2) NO cleanup! Just wipe and flush, lol. Sounds silly, but the stand alone potties are horrible to have to clean after every trip... especially at first when they're peeing 5 times every few minutes.
Yes, the stand alones are a pain to clean up especially after poop but my DD hasn't had any issues transitioning from that to toilet. At her preschool she uses a kid-size toilet without any problems. Also, there's no guarantee with any seat that your child will use it. I have a friend where her DD refused the toilet ring because she was scared and yet her son uses the ring without any problems. It's a gamble what you choose.
We have the Summer Infant brand as well as a Disney Princess brand. I hate the Disney brand. The shape of the bowl makes it so the pee gets all over the seat. Whereas, the SI brand is angled in a way where I've never had to clean up any spillage.
