Viability Ultrasound Scheduled and Third Beta is in!

I just found out today that my third beta is 1,301, up from 278 on 10/22.  It looks like the LO just might stick :)  I am praying that all continues to go well. 

I called the OB office yesterday and they want to do a viability ultrasound next Tuesday to confirm that the pregnancy is moving along as it should.   I will be 5 weeks at that point; what can I expect to see on the ultrasound?   

On another note, I was not expecting such a huge jump in my third beta.  Given my AMA and the fact I took one round of Clomid, what is the likelihood I might have twins?  And, would the ultrasound next week tell me if I were?

    Wow! Congrats on the great beta jump. Hopefully that continues!

    The u/s check at 5 weeks would be an internal one, probably looking for a yolk sac. If there's more than one, that probably means twins.

    Great news!  I think clomid only increases your odds of twins like 10% but not sure.   Betas aren't always a great indicator of that.  Hopefully you will see a yolk sac at your u/s but that is really early so don't get discouraged if you don't see much.  Good luck!

    I don't know how many dpo's your 3rd beta was taken at, but you can compare at betabase.info for singleton and twin pregnancies.  At 5 weeks, they will probably look for the presence of a gestational sac and maybe yolk sac and fetal pole, though these may also be too early to see; it would be too early to see a heartbeat.  Good luck!

    Thank you ladies for the info on the ultrasound...we are excited and hopeful to see something positive next Tuesday.

    Hi MrsNuken, thanks for the link :)  My third beta was taken 19DPO and according to the site, the medium HCG level at 19DPO is 1190; I am a bit over that, so I guess time will only tell!

    Congrats on having twins too...how incredibly exciting!

    This. Good Luck on the u/s!! I believe when I was 5wks we couldnt see the fetal pole just yet, but could see the gest sac and yolk sac.

    My betas were really low and I'm pregnant with twins. I took 50 mg of Clomid so I guess I'm in the 10%. MY US was at 7 weeks.
