Quick question for all you CD ladies! I have done a NB CD trial, and I have figured out that we prefer pockets. However, I would love to get a OS pocket diaper. Do you have a favorite OS pocket? I was thinking bumgenius 4.0 OS pockets, but since I am a FTM & inexperienced with CDing there may be a better kind/brand available that I am unaware of. Is this so?
I really love fuzzibunz pockets, but they come in sizes. And as a single mother this doesn't seem like the most economical choice, because I assume I'd have to buy 24-36 new diapers every time he grows. Hence the appeal of the OS pockets. Am I being "pennywise but pound foolish" in thinking that?
Thanks for your input!
Re: Diaper Decisions
There are tons of one size pocket options out there, I would buy one of a kind you want to try and then decide. I will warn you, if you have a newborn they may not fit well yet, most don't fit until 10 lbs or so.
I have tried tons of brands - Kawaiis, Alvas, BumGenius, Fuzzibunz old style OS and elites (I actually love my elites!), Smush Tush and Dibbledot Diapers from etsy, Sweet Peas, Thirsties...several more, and I know there are brands I haven't tried!
I like BumGenius, Kawaii and Swaddlebees OS pockets. If I had to pick a favorite, it would be the BG. I do not like Fuzzi Bunz because I can't seem to get them to *not* have compression leaks (whereas I have zero problems with my other pockets).
If you find a OS pocket that works for you, it will be less expensive than going with sized diapers.
I like my BumGenius 4.0, Swaddlebees Simplex OS (AIO w/ pocket for added absorbancy) and Blueberry OS pockets best.
I also like AMP... I have 2 super cute patterns. I just have to remember that the pocket is in the front, not back when stuffing. (I fold for extra absorbancy in back since she lays on her back a lot)
I am a little happier with my TotsBots now that I am folding the insert differently even though it's technically an AIO it has a pocket to add absorbancy.
I do not like my Happy Heinys very much. They leak the most, but I think that's a fit issue b/c DD is tiny. Plus the aplix sucks. Who knows maybe my snap ones will be my favorite if she chunks up a little.
Out of all of them if I had to recommend one for price vs. quality I'd probably recommend the Bum Genius 4.0.
ETA: once baby hits 10 lbs, the OS diapers fit great. Except for my newborn diapers (mostly prefolds) I don't have any sized diapers. It seems way more expensive to me... I didn't want to be constantly telling DH that we needed to spend more $$$ on diapers either.
