My dad is William and his step dad is Richard. LN is English. I wanted William Richard LN. DH said it sounds like we are naming a king. Then we found Kip (real name and front runner). Kip William LN. I still really wanted to get Richard in there. I suggested FN William Richard LN. Not a super fan of two middle names but I really want both (DH is adamently opposed to William/Richard as a first name).
DH came up with Will.rich. He found this on google somewhere. Its the brand of a tractor and a last name (not ours). We are not farmers and no connections to such. (DOT to thwart DH's google search)
Its not a real name and its a smoosh (for us). I like Kip (which I know isn't popular here or anywhere) and really think it needs to be paired with a common solid name (ie William and/or Richard) not a weird made-up one.
I am trying to be nice on this so far but will pull veto power. Any suggestions to convince DH that this is not reasonable? Unless you think its good and I'm unreasonable?
Re: DH has made up a name he loves -- HELP
If I were you I would start an innocent looking poll on here. All of the ladies would shoot it down and then you could show him. Just say H I know you like this name but look at all these peoples opinions on it. Maybe its not such a good idea.
I know it is kind of tricking him because you don't like it...but it is the truth.

My sister gave my nephew two middle names at her DH's insistence. (He's 5 now & in school.)
She says it's kind of a pain & you almost never use the second one on any forms. Don't know if that will matter to you or not.

Hey, pretty girl, it feels so right,
All wrapped up in my arms so tight
Hey, pretty girl, it feels so right
Life's a long and winding ride
Better have the right one by your side
And happiness don't drag its feet
Time moves faster than you think
I would just veto it and get it over with ow instead of dragging it out. My husband likes coming up with weird stuff like this too but I think it's just because it's early so he isn't taking it seriously and likes to piss me off because he thinks its funny.
I LOVE Kip, great name.
Do DH and his step-dad have the same last name? If so, your LO will have part of the step-dad's name in his as well
Kip William is a super awesome name. Love
I don't like Kip. It makes me think of 80s preppies with popped-collar polos and pastel sweaters tied around their necks. Someone who would be a villain in an old John Cusack movie. Kipper, like fish. Win one for the Gipper. Also, there's an alien on Futurama named Kif, who is kind of a pathetic sad-sack.
What about Christopher, nn Kit? I don't why, but the hard t makes it better somehow.
I had a similar problem with DH vetoing William Charles because it sounds like royalty, even though they are both family names. Willrich is terrible. It does sound like Woolrich. I agree with pp that Liam Richard might be a good compromise.
I agree! You can't honor everyone with one kid. And I really like Kip William too!
