I'm starting to get nervous! I live in NJ and the reports are getting uglier for our area! Usually, I don't give in to the hysteria, but, back in July we had a supercell hit our little town of Freehold Boro and it nearly destroyed us. I fear this storm might bring the same! :-(

Yeah I'm getting nervous too. We're in Ocean county, and only two blocks from the water. I usually don't give in to the hysteria either, but I admit I'm more worried than usual this time. We are planning on going out today to stock up on supplies. We lost power for 4 days with Irene, and I want to make sure I have enough water and non perishables to get us through if it happens again. We don't really have anywhere to stay if things get bad. All of our close friends and family are in this area too.

I'm in NE PA (Where NJ, NY, and PA meet). They say we could get hit hard too. We lost power for 2 days with Irene.

On another note, I have family near you! My Aunt lives in Manchester and my brother lives in Brick. We go there to visit often (it's only like 2hrs from us).

Yeah i can only imagine how crazy the stores will be. And I'm going to costco which is crazy enough on a normal day! Good luck to you and yours too. I'm definitely hoping we're all getting worried for no reason.

Fun!! I'm pretty close to Brick (about 30 mins)....Cmonkey is probably close too since she's in Ocean County. I'm hoping it's not too bad! Having a toddler at home with no electricity doesn't sound fun to me!

Stupid bump ate my response, I think.

I'm worried too! I live in PA outside of Allentown. The flooding last year from Hurricane Irene and Tropical Storm Lee were sooo bad, even down towards our families in Elizabethtown/Hershey PA. We had friends who completely lost their house and all kinds of other terrible stories. My husband's company is already expecting people might not make it to work and we'll have to see how our daycare fares too. There are so many bridges and rivers around us. Losing power with a toddler sounds downright awful to me too! GL to everyone and hope everything turns out ok. Stay safe!

P.S. Gavin's birthday party is tomorrow so I'm really really really glad it looks like we'll still be able to celebrate before Sandy shows up.

We always seem to get lucky that my parents never lose power at the same time as us, so we can always go over there if we need to. I just hope we don't lose trees like we did last year, the streets were a mess.

I am just praying that we don't lose power and that the tree behind us doesn't do any damage to our house. They are talking 100 mph winds!

Apparently Maryland and Virginia already declared a state of emergency. It's tough to not buy into the hype!

For us in MD I think it's because so much of the state is coastal that it's unsafe for them as opposed to the storm itself is that bad.

I'm here too. I think it's also a power issue after it took so long to get us all restored back in July.

Yup. I'm actually right in between Brick and Manchester. Yeah I'm more worried about being without power than anything. I'm wishing we had stocked up on wood for the fireplace just incase, but we weren't planning to use it this winter. oh well.

I'm in Hazlet/Middletown and I agree it's hard not to buy into the hype..last year with Irene my basement flooded and we had no power for days. I guess all we can do is hope it is not horrible. JCP & L already issues statements saying power outages can last as long as ten days...such a stellar company.

The newscast I just saw said they are evacuating down by Cape May. I think we are going to be OK up here.
