Emma's going to her grandparents tonight

Okay, so since she was born I've had several public meetings and a few times where I've brought her to their house but stayed the whole time, and tonight I'm gonna let them have her alone for a few hours while my SO and I go out. I'm kind of nervous, but I know how much they love Emma and I think I can trust them to keep her father away from her.

Fingers crossed!

  • FYI, you could set a precident that you have allowed the LO to have overnights with grandparents therfore the father could successfully get overnight visitation granted.

I would totally slow your roll on the whole SO relationship.

  • She's not staying the night with them, she's only going over there for a few hours in the evening. Also I don't think he would get any unsupervised visitation granted because of his criminal background and his abusive tendencies.

  • I think you would be surprised at how many fathers get visitation and custody rights while having criminal backgrounds and abusive tendancies. My own ex has custody rights and "visitation" although he doesn't exercise those right b/c as the courts said even though he was conviced twice of Domestic Violence doesn't mean he'll hurt the children. There was a poster here not too long ago and she was on the Blended Families board a lot, her x had unsupervised weekend visitation and he was convicted of causing the Shaken Baby Syndrome in their son. It's not unheard of for the courts to want to maintain a child/father connection no matter how much he beats you.
