First, why are they so expensive - ugh! And then extra for the ottomans - double ugh! Now that's off my chest...
We went to BBB to check out their selection as our starting point. The gliders fell basically into two categories: the cushy chair style and the wooden frame style. Besides aesthetics, the biggest difference we were noticing was that the wooden frame ones lock (manual or automatic) when you get up and the cushy ones did not.
I really like the ones that look more like a piece of real furniture, and it would allow me to get a more contemporary style that would better match our nursery and house. However, my DH really liked how the wooden frame ones lock when I get up. He's worried about me falling if it glides/swivels while I get up and hurting myself or the LO.
What are your thoughts on the locking feature? Is this a big deal?
Also, accompanying ottomans ... yes or no?
Re: Question about Gliders
I didn't care for either style, so I just sought out the least expensive option. The lock option wasn't a consideration for me at all, though.
Anyway, I bought the wooden frame type w/lock. I found a Shermag w/ottoman included at BRU for $150 at the Black Friday Sale. They have this deal every year. I'm pleased with it, and glad I bought it.
I have never had an issue with getting out of my "unlocking" glider.
