Blood in diaper this morning.

This morning DD had some blood in her diaper after pooping.  She did have a hard nugget poop and was really trying hard to poop for a good 5 minutes.  I know the blood is probably from trying to poop a hard poop, but it is still disturbing to see that.  The Pedi office opens in about 10 minutes and I am going to call to find out if he wants me to bring her in or not.  Has anyone had this happen and what did you do for your lo??

    It could be fissures from pushing hard.Or it could be a food intolerance/allergy.The doctor can test you for the latter.

    I'd give her prunes or pear/pear juice while you're waiting to see your doctor.

    Thanks!!  I actually talked to the nurse at the Pedi's office a few minutes ago and she said to give her some prune juice over the next couple days to soften her stool.  She said she could have a small tear from pushing really hard since her poop was hard.

    Poor thing. I don't think it is terribly uncommon. Prune or apple juice! GL.

    We had a scare on Tuesday.  LO had diarrhea Sunday/Monday.  I called the 24 hour on-call nurse hotline and they told me it was most likely from the antibiotics he had just been put on...it was a side effect. LO was happy for the first time in three days, so he was fine.  I was relieved. Is she on antibiotics?
