Could this be a false pregnancy??

I'm a first-timer at this, so I'm completely CLUELESS. Please help! I took several (six to be exact; I didn't believe the first five!) positive pregnancy tests two weeks ago; according to my LMP I should be almost 8 weeks along. My first pre-natal appointment isn't for another couple of weeks. My concern is that I may not actually be pregnant because I have had not one single symptom! No fatigue, no tender breasts, no nausea, no weight gain; in fact I've lost six pounds in the last three weeks. I had a friend who had a positive pregnancy test and then the doctor found only an empty sac with no baby in it. I'm terrified this may happen to me! Is it normal to be 8 weeks along and not have any symptoms?? I'm seriously worried. :-
Love is everything.

Re: Could this be a false pregnancy??

  • Symptoms do not make or break a pregnancy so try not to worry.  You may be one of the lucky ones who doesn't have symptoms - it DOES happen! :)  And just to be clear, with that many + tests, it's not a "false" pregnancy.  Of course it's possible that things don't progress as the should but that never means the pregancy wasn't real.

  • I think that stressing over it might make things worse ~ if you've been testing positive, then you're most likely pregnant!  With my last pregnancy, I had no symptoms at all, never got sick, never had sore breasts or anything like that, so it is possible to feel great while pregnant :) At least until you're really far along and just get uncomfortably big LOL. Just enjoy feeling great while you can!

  • Thank you!  Everyone keeps asking me how I feel and I keep expecting to feel SOMETHING, but I just haven't and I was starting to panic.  Maybe I will be blessed to not have any negative symptoms; my poor sister was so sick for a solid three months with hers.  Thanks again!

  • You can have a false positive test but it's not likely that 6 of them are false positives. Hang in there!

  • Thank you! You are right, I guess I should be grateful that I'm not feeling poorly. By the way, your daughter is absolutely stunning.  What a gorgeous baby girl!  I cannot believe that I'm gonna have one of those soon!  (First time preggers and still in disbelief.)

  • I've lost nine pounds at 6 weeks and other than going to bed early I feel exactly the same.  I know I'm really pregnant because I had an ultrasound yesterday. Try not to worry. It could be too early for symptoms.
  • Losing weight in first tri is normal. I lost around 8 lbs last time and I wasn't even THAT sick. Just enjoy feeling so good while you can! You never know when m/s may strike!

  • Im in a similar situation, I took two tests both positive, had slight symthpoms they now went away except fatigue and I am in total disbelief. My doctor didht even test me, my ultrasound is next week . Everyone keeps telling me the same as above. There is only about a 2% chance of a false positive lol
  • I've lost a little weight already as well. I think I'm obsessing so much over putting healthy stuff into my body, my body is like, thanks, no processed foods. Either way, my symptoms have been slight as well, besides sore breasts. But, with that many positive tests, I would say you are definitely pregnant. If you are very worried, though, call your doc to see if you can get in earlier.

  • Thanks everyone. I'm so glad to have such an awesome wealth of knowledge and to be able to share with you all. Lucky us!

  • I would just like to throw out there that while I was extremely exhausted with DS the first few weeks of pregnancy, I didn't get sick until about week 10. Symptoms come and go, so you may not be all that lucky in a few weeks or even a couple days ;)
