Anyone's LO still gag and puke on finger food?

I can't wait till we're through this. dS does ok with some finger foods, but still gags and vomits with some things. I gave him a piece of toasted bread at a restaurant and he puked. It seems like it always has to happen when were out too. I now my DD did the same thing, but I feel like she was done with it a bit earlier.

  • One of my former nanny kids did that....he gagged on anything with texture he didnt like. I think he outgrew it around 18 months. Hopefully your son outgrows it quicker than my nanny kid....I remember it not being fun at all. And having to change clothes a lot sucked too!

T still gags on finger foods occasionally.

Do you know if he has any allergies? I only ask because we found out T was allergic to sesame after he gagged and puked when we gave him a bite of hummus. If it was an allergic reaction you'd probably see other signs as well, such as hives, a rash, or swelling, so just keep an eye out for those things.
This is kind of what I was thinking. Gagging/coughing stuff up is normal. If he's actually vomiting I would be concerned about allergies as well as damage to his esophagus if it's happening frequently. Does he normally have the same reaction to specific foods or is it food in general?
  • E doesn't puke but he gags when he eats something he doesn't like. He'll repeatedly gag (even sometimes puts his finger in his mouth) and it looks like he's about to vomit, but then he just spits out the food.
