Oatmeal mixed with fruit puree?

I tried to get LO started on Rice cereal at 4 1/2 months old but he HATED it and refused to eat it ha ha. So I went to fruits and veggies.

Well, I had a box of baby Oatmeal that I bought when I got him the Rice cereal and I had never tried it. Not really sure why just had a ton cans of purees. But I tried it about a week and a half ago and he's been having that every morning or early afternoon. He seems to like it alright but definitely not as much as veggies or fruit purees.

Wondering if anyone has tried mixing some kind of fruit like pears or applesauce with oatmeal and if their LO liked it, TIA again! (:

    My son has had constipation problems with solids so we've been mixing prunes with his oatmeal every day. He seems to really like it- he's been eating it every day for about 6 weeks now.

    We have never given her plain oatmeal - we've always mixed it with things.  Friends gave us some leftover boxes, so she eats it for breakfast sometimes mixed with fruit purees.  And then sometimes I also use it to thicken things a little bit - for example I made a black bean and sweet potato soup the other day.  Lucia loved the taste of it but it was very brothy, so hard to get into her mouth.  We added some oatmeal which thickened it right up.

    We started with straight up oatmeal. Now we mix a fruit in every morning. Pear, mango, apple, banana they loved them all. Blueberries, not so much.

    Oatmeal mixed with fruit puree is Madison's breakfast everyday and sometimes dinner too, although we just started meats.  I never give her plain oatmeal anymore.

    I like to mix it in the puree just to thicken it up.  She loves it that way.

    I make my own fruit puree and use oatmeal to thicken them all the time. I have mixed with pears, apples, peaches, apricots, and nectarines. DD eats all of them. Now in the morning I also mix in a little whole milk yogurt.

    Thanks everyone, I'll give it a try tomorrow morning! I'm betting he's going to like it a whole bunch more. He doesn't really seem to like the plain oatmeal so it's kind of forceful making him eat it :/ lol

    Also, just wondering how old a baby needs to be before they can have strawberries? How old for meats?
