Parenting after a Loss

Finally back from vaca from hell.

Hi all.  I have not even caught up on who has had babies, but CONGRATS!

Well, I have decided no more vacations.  Over Thanksgiving, we endured the following, besides the 8 hour car ride with 2 toddlers

1. 1 ear infection, Mario

2. 1 DOUBLE inner ear infection-Isa, then an allergic reaction to her antibiotics, a bad one--hives, eyes swollen shut.  We have to take her to doctor every 48 hours for checks until she is better.

3. 1 hospitalization for a cerebral concussion/TBI-me.

4.  This is starting to sound like the 12 days of Thanksgiving.  I am on meds galore, have to go for speech therapy, can't drive, have to wear a helmut if I do anything remotely fun, and have both before incident and after incident memory defecits, which just means I can't remember sh** without a yellow stickie. Incident-- (tripped over Andy's size 14 shoe, cracked open the back of my skull on the bathtub).

I was going to say it was a Thanksgiving I'll never forget--but more accurate would be Thanksgiving I'll never remember!

I hope you guys are all well. I hope I remember writing this post!  Writing is sticking better than speaking (which is hard to do physically), and I seem to remember more written than spoken or heard.

I swear it is true, I even have the discharge papers and help from the Brain Injury Association of America to prove it.  Truth is stranger than fiction.

Oh, if I sound stooopid, it is because here is my current list of "deficits"

--concentration, learning, short term memory, vision, headaches, mood instability, sensitivity to noise, dizziness/vertigo (busted an ear drum wide open), decreased interest in sex (LOL, least now I got papers for this) and trouble completing a task.

The only test I passed was "relating to others".  Great, anyone need a really stoopid therapist?

Tmw my parents are coming for my birthday.  Which I forgot about until yesterday.  Take care, and watch out for big shoes, Much love, Jill
